# SlapFive Terminology

Here are the terms used in SlapFive and their meaning.

### Activity Types

An Activity Type is a form of engagement that you would like to offer to your [Members](#members), have them decide which ones they like to do, and track when Members perform those [Activities](#activities). Activity Types are defined in Client Settings. For each Activity Type, you can assign an [Engagement Score](#engagement-score), and you can specify whether it should appear on the Request Reference entry form.

### Activities

An Activity is a record of a Customer having performed a specific [Activity Type](#activity-type), on a particular date, and being awarded an [Engagement Score](#engagement-score).

### Admin Menu

The Admin Menu is accessed by users with Admin rights by clicking your Avatar in the upper right corner of the SlapFive screen. On the Admin Menu, you can access your Profile, the Chrome Extension, [Templates](#templates), Tracking, and your [Client Settings](#client-settings).

### Boards

A Board is a template-driven collection of [Stories](#stories) for a particular use case. Boards can be either a full stand-alone page or a widget that can be embedded on any web or mobile page (corporate website, blog, community post, landing page, microsite, portal, social media property, etc.).

### Client Settings

Client Settings are where you define system-wide preferences and customization settings for SlapFive. You access your Client Settings by going to the Admin Menu in the upper right and selecting **\[Your\_Company] Settings**.

### Companies

A Company is the organization that your [Members ](#members)work for. Companies can have multiple Members. Companies can be tracked by Industry, Company Size, Location, Customer Since, Products Used, Competitors Replaced, etc.

### Direct Prompts

A Direct Prompt is created when you send a [Prompt ](#prompts)to one or more named [Members ](#members)in SlapFive. The Member receives an email and/or text message with a link to respond, clicks the link, and can respond using the allowable media types.

### Engagement Score

For each [Activity Type](#activity-types), you assign an Engagement Score that you want to grant to each customer who performs that [Activity](#activities). The total Engagement Score for a customer is the sum of the scores from all the Activities that customer has performed.

### Members

Members are the people who belong to your program and to whom you want to offer opportunities to engage such as capturing their voice. Member records usually represent your clients, but can also be employees, partners, or thought leaders. Your members have a full profile including their name, title, image, and [Company ](#companies)details.

### Prompts/Surveys

A Prompt is a question or statement used to offer an opportunity to engage and/or elicit a specific response from a [Member](#members). Prompts can be defined to allow responses via video, audio, text, numeric, file or link.

### Open Prompts

An Open Prompt is created when you generate an Open Prompt link that you paste into an email, web page, community post, etc. to allow anyone to respond. Unlike a [Direct Prompt](#direct-prompt), the responder is asked to enter their Name, Company, and Email address. Open Prompts are used when you want to offer opportunities to respond whether or not the targets are Members in SlapFive.

### Requests

Requests allow people in your company to ask for a customer or customer content for use as customer proof. It most frequently refers to Reference Requests coming from Sales, but can also be used by PR, Analyst Relations, Product Marketing, and Demand Generation folks to make asks of customers.

### Stories

A Story is created to capture a single [Member’s](#members) response to a single [Prompt ](#prompts)in audio, video, text, numeric, file or link format.

### Templates

A Template is the HTML and CSS that determines the design and layout of a [Board](#boards).

### Tracking

The Tracking area allows you to see how many people have viewed or shared your [Boards ](#boards)and [Stories](#stories). You can track by Board, by Story, or by Member.

# SlapFive Self Guide Enablement

Welcome to SlapFive. This guide is designed to help your team confidently learn, navigate, and operationalize the platform independently. Whether your goal is to manage customer references, generate reviews, activate advocates, scale customer stories, or support sales teams more efficiently, this guide will help you understand both the platform functionality and the strategic best practices behind it.

The document is structured as a step-by-step learning journey that explains not only how to use the platform, but also why each feature matters operationally.

# Understanding the SlapFive Data Model

The SlapFive platform is built around connected objects and relationships.

**Core Platform Objects**\
• Members\
• Companies\
• Activities\
• Campaigns\
\
**Why the Data Model Matters**\
Understanding how objects connect improves:\
• Reporting accuracy\
• Workflow automation\
• Search functionality\
• Segmentation\
• Campaign targeting\
\
Designing Your Data Model --> Before creating large numbers of fields, start with the workflows you want SlapFive to support.

Ask: **What decisions do we need this data to help us make?**

For a reference program, you may need:

* Industry
* Company size
* Product
* Use case
* Geography
* Role
* Reference willingness

For a speaker program, you may need:

* Role / Persona
* Speaking willingness
* Topics of expertise
* Geography
* Event participation history

For an advocate sourcing program, you may also want:

* Customer health
* Account tier
* NPS or sentiment
* CSM nomination
* Account owner
* Customer lifecycle stage

This keeps the data model focused on actionable information instead of simply recreating every field from your CRM.

***

## Data Governance Best Practices

### Standardize Naming Conventions

Use consistent field names and terminology across your data model.

For example, avoid having separate fields such as:

* Company Size
* Account Size
* Customer Size
* Segment Size

when they are all intended to represent the same concept.

### Avoid Duplicate Fields

Before creating a new field, determine whether the information already exists elsewhere in the profile.

Duplicate fields can create conflicting data and make filtering unreliable.

### Use Consistent Dropdown Values

Whenever possible, use standardized values rather than unrestricted free-text fields for attributes that will be used for filtering.

For example, instead of allowing:

“United States”\
“USA”\
“U.S.”\
“US”

standardize on one value.

The same principle applies to industries, products, segments, regions, advocacy interests, and other commonly filtered attributes.

### Keep Profile Data Updated

Customer information changes over time.

Account ownership, products, roles, customer status, lifecycle stage, and other attributes should be refreshed regularly—particularly when they originate in another system of record.

### Remove or Deactivate Outdated Records

Establish a process for identifying and managing records that should no longer participate in active advocacy workflows.

***

## Key Takeaway

Your SlapFive data model should be designed around **activation, not data collection.**

Every field should ideally help your team do at least one of the following:

* Find the right advocate
* Match a customer to a request
* Target an audience
* Personalize an advocacy experience
* Understand program coverage
* Measure participation or impact
* Identify gaps in your advocate pool

When profile data is clean, standardized, and connected to your workflows, SlapFive becomes more than a database of advocates—it becomes the system your team can use to **find, activate, and scale the right customer voices at the right time.**

<br>

# Understanding Membership Profiles

Membership profiles are the foundation of the SlapFive platform. Every advocate, customer, or member in your program is represented through a profile.

### Profiles, Data & Filtering in SlapFive

Member profiles are the foundation of how SlapFive identifies, organizes, activates, and measures customer advocates.

The stronger and more structured your profile data is, the easier it becomes to find the right customer for the right opportunity—whether that is a sales reference, speaking opportunity, content request, campaign, review, or other advocacy activity.

### What Profiles Power

#### Search & Filtering

Quickly identify customers and advocates based on the criteria that matter to your program.

Teams can search and filter across customer, contact, program, and advocacy attributes to narrow a large advocate pool into a relevant group.

For example:

* Customers using a specific product
* Advocates in a particular industry or geography
* Customers associated with a specific account segment
* Advocates who have agreed to participate in references
* Customers who are available for speaking opportunities
* Advocates who have completed specific activities

#### Advocate Segmentation

Profiles allow Customer Marketing and Advocacy teams to build meaningful advocate segments rather than treating every advocate the same.

Segments might include:

* Executive advocates
* Highly engaged advocates
* Reference-ready customers
* Customers willing to speak publicly
* Customers available for analyst conversations
* Customers interested in reviews
* Customers by product or use case
* Strategic or enterprise accounts
* Customers within a specific region

These segments can then be used for targeted campaigns, outreach, requests, and reporting.

#### Reference Request Matching

Profile data is especially important for reference programs. When Sales submits a reference request, SlapFive can use customer and advocate attributes to help identify customers that align with the request.

Matching criteria may include:

* Industry
* Company size or segment
* Geography
* Product
* Use case
* Role or persona
* Customer lifecycle stage
* Reference willingness
* Previous advocacy participation
* Other organization-specific matching criteria

The more complete the underlying data is, the more relevant the potential matches become.

Organizations using automated or AI-assisted reference matching should pay particular attention to profile quality because the matching process can only use the information available within the customer and advocate data model.

### Campaign Targeting

Profile fields can also determine who should receive a SlapFive campaign.

Instead of sending every campaign to the entire advocate community, teams can create highly targeted audiences.

For example:

**Review Campaign**

Target customers who:

Product = Product X AND Advocacy Interest = Reviews AND Customer Status = Active

**Speaking Opportunity**

Target advocates who:

Industry = Financial Services AND Role = Executive AND Speaking Interest = Yes AND Region = North America

This allows teams to make advocacy asks more relevant and reduces unnecessary outreach to customers who are unlikely to be a fit.

### Reporting & Analytics

Structured profile data also makes advocacy reporting significantly more valuable.

Organizations can analyze participation and advocacy activity by dimensions such as:

* Industry
* Geography
* Product
* Customer segment
* Account tier
* Persona
* Advocacy type
* Program
* Customer lifecycle stage

This helps teams answer questions such as:

* Which customer segments are most engaged?
* Where do we have gaps in reference coverage?
* Which products have the strongest advocate representation?
* Which regions need additional advocate sourcing?
* Are we relying too heavily on a small group of customers?
* Which types of customers participate most frequently?

# Standard vs Dynamic Fields

## Standard Fields vs. Dynamic Fields

SlapFive profiles can contain both standard fields our custom dynamic fields unique to your business and values.

### Standard Core Fields

Core fields represent foundational information used to identify and organize customers and contacts.

Examples include:

* Name
* Company
* Role / Title
* Email
* Geography
* Member or advocate status

These fields provide the basic structure needed to identify who the advocate is and the organization they represent.

### Dynamic / Custom Fields

Dynamic fields allow each organization to extend its SlapFive data model with information specific to its business, customer base, and advocacy program.

Examples might include:

* Industry
* Employee count
* Account segment
* ARR range
* Product(s) used
* Use case
* Customer lifecycle stage
* Account owner
* Customer Success Manager
* Customer health
* Reference willingness
* Speaking willingness
* Review willingness
* Analyst willingness
* Strategic account status
* Region
* Advocacy tier

Dynamic fields are especially powerful when information is synchronized or supplied from systems such as Salesforce, Gainsight, Planhat, or other customer systems.

The goal is not to bring every piece of customer data into SlapFive. The goal is to bring in the **data that helps your team make better advocacy decisions.**

# Member & Company Image Uploading

Quick tips to best optimize your member profiles

* Upload headshots of your members that are **squared** - LinkedIn photos are always squared
* Company logos should be transparent background and horizontal format (example below)
* Any Company attributes added to a Member profile transfer to the Company profile including the logo

<figure><img src="/files/tbwveF3W9xdioYbuXWbS" alt=""><figcaption><p><strong>Bad example - this is a squared image and will render small</strong></p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/Kr5q8hIuWxy1wUgkX0Jn" alt=""><figcaption><p><strong>This is what you want - transparent horizontal logo</strong> </p></figcaption></figure>

# Member & Company Profiles FAQ

Profiles & Data FAQs What is the difference between an Account and a Member? Explain the relationship between the customer company/account and the individual people associated with that organization.

**What is the difference between an Account and a Member?**\
Explain the relationship between the customer company/account and the individual people associated with that organization.

**What information should I include on an advocate profile?**\
Focus on the information needed to find and activate that customer: role, company, industry, product, use case, geography, advocacy interests, reference preferences, etc.

**Should we use free-text fields or pick list dropdowns?**\
For fields used heavily in filtering, segmentation, matching, or reporting, standardized values are generally preferable because inconsistent data matching, filtering and fulfilling request needs difficult if the data is messy.

**Do I need to bring all of my CRM data into SlapFive?**\
No. Focus on data that helps identify, segment, match, activate, or report on advocates. The goal is an actionable advocacy data model—not recreating your entire CRM.

**What happens when an advocate changes companies or leaves their company?**

When an advocate changes companies or leaves their organization, their SlapFive profile should be reviewed to ensure they are no longer associated with an account they no longer represent.

* **If the advocate leaves the company:**
  * Update their status so they are no longer included in active advocate outreach or reference matching for the former company.
  * Preserve relevant historical advocacy activity when appropriate so your team retains an accurate record of past participation.
  * Review any outstanding requests, campaigns, or advocacy activities associated with the advocate.
  * If their contact information is no longer valid, update or deactivate the record rather than continuing outreach to an outdated business email.
* **If the advocate moves to a new company:**
  * Treat the new employment relationship as new customer/account context. Confirm that the new company is an appropriate organization for your advocacy program before associating the advocate with it.

An advocate's history with their former company should not automatically imply that they can serve as a reference or advocate for their new organization.

**Best practice:** Regularly validate employment, account association, contact information, and advocate status.

***

#### How should we handle duplicate advocates or accounts?

Duplicate records should be addressed as soon as they are identified because they can impact filtering, segmentation, campaign targeting, reference matching, and reporting.

Before creating a new Account or Member, first search SlapFive to determine whether a record already exists.

**For duplicate Members:**\
Determine which profile should be considered the primary record. Review both records for important profile information and advocacy history before deactivating or otherwise resolving the duplicate.

Pay particular attention to:

* Email address
* Company/account association
* Role and title
* Profile attributes
* Advocacy preferences
* Campaign participation
* Reference activity
* Stories or other customer contributions

Avoid simply removing a duplicate without first determining whether it contains historical information your team needs to retain.

**For duplicate Accounts:**\
First determine why the duplicate was created. Common causes can include inconsistent company naming, manual record creation, or differences between SlapFive and an integrated source system.

For example:

`Acme`\
`Acme Inc.`\
`Acme Corporation`

should not unintentionally become three separate customer records if they represent the same organization.

When resolving duplicate Accounts, confirm which Account should be treated as the primary record and review the Members and activity associated with each before making changes.

**Best practices for preventing duplicates:**

* Search before manually creating new records.
* Standardize company naming conventions.
* Use consistent identifiers when syncing data from systems such as your CRM.
* Define which system is the source of truth for customer and contact data.
* Periodically review your data for duplicate or inactive records.
* Avoid creating multiple fields or records to solve a data-quality issue that should be corrected at the source.

Clean Account and Member data helps ensure that SlapFive can accurately identify the right customers, target the right audiences, support reference matching, and provide trustworthy reporting.

# Workstreams & Workflow Automations

Implementation Workstreams

There is an Advocacy workstream, a Community Workstream, a Reference Workstream and a Referral Workstram

A SlapFive program can support multiple customer engagement workstreams. While the same customer may participate across several workstreams, each has a different objective, audience, workflow, and measure of success.

The four primary workstreams are:

* **Advocacy Workstream** — Activate customers to tell their stories and participate in advocacy opportunities.
* **Community Workstream** — Build ongoing customer engagement, connection, education, and participation.
* **Reference Workstream** — Connect qualified customers with prospects to support active sales opportunities.
* **Referral Workstream** — Empower customers to introduce or recommend your organization to people in their network.

***

### Advocacy Workstream

#### Purpose

The Advocacy Workstream focuses on identifying, activating, and engaging customers who are willing to share their experiences and participate in activities that amplify the voice of the customer.

Includes:

* Nominations:
  * from Sales in SFDC
  * &#x20;from CS in their CSP
  * &#x20;from internal teams via a custom form or survey
* Advocate sourcing: Reviews
  * Job change tracker following advocates to new roles/companies, and advocate recongization
  * NPS/Health Score Advocate Indicators
  * Useage/Product Signals

#### Key Goal

Build a healthy, engaged, and scalable advocate pool while making it easy for customers to participate in the ways they prefer.

***

### Community Workstream

#### Purpose

* Turn positive comments in community discussions into target customers to invite to your program in SlapFive.
* Have community discussions trigger the prompting of a member to share a story by responding to a SlapFive prompt.
* Offer SlapFive opportunities to perform acts of advocacy to community members from within a thread or a dedicated page.
* Reward actions that customers take in the community by incrementing their engagement score in SlapFive.

#### Common Community Activities

Community programs may include:

* Peer-to-peer discussions
* Educational content
* Events
* Webinars
* Product conversations
* Customer networking
* Challenges
* Surveys
* Feedback opportunities
* Exclusive customer content
* Recognition
* Customer announcements
* Advocacy opportunities

#### Relationship to Advocacy

Community and advocacy can work together, but they are not the same thing.

**Community creates engagement. Advocacy activates customer voice and tracks their engagement.**

Community activity can, however, provide valuable signals for identifying potential advocates.

#### Typical Workflow

**Join Community** → **Profile Sync** → **Advocacy Review** → **Welcome & Opt-In** → **Select Activities** → **Active Advocate** → **Profile Updated**

*Community members flow into SlapFive as Targeted Members. Once reviewed, they receive an automated invitation to join the advocacy program and select the activities they’re willing to participate in. After opting in, their status changes to Member, their profile is updated with their preferences, and the Advocacy team is notified.*

***

### Reference Workstream

#### Purpose

The Reference Workstream is specifically designed to support Sales by connecting prospects with existing customers who can speak credibly about their experience.

From sales the request is tied to a **sales opportunity and so we can track back influenced revenue when the deal is closed won.**

#### Typical Reference Request

A Sales representative may need:

> An enterprise healthcare customer in North America using Product X who can speak about implementation and business outcomes.

The reference workflow helps identify customers who meet those criteria.

#### Typical Workflow

**Sales Request → Requirements Captured → Match Advocates → Review/Approval → Customer Ask → Reference Connection → Completion → Tracking**

#### Advocate Fatigue

Reference management should also consider how frequently customers are being used.

Organizations can establish rules around customer usage—for example, limiting reference participation to a defined frequency and pausing customers from additional requests after they have reached that threshold.

What most customers are doing here is once the Member completed an activity as a completed reference for a customer they can do that one time in a quarter only. After they complete a reference activity they are paused until 3 months from that dat&#x65;**.**

***

### Referral Workstream

#### Purpose

The Referral Workstream is focused on turning customer advocacy into **new pipeline and introductions.**

Instead of asking a customer to speak with an existing prospect, the organization empowers the customer to introduce or recommend the company to someone within their own network.

This distinction is important:

**Reference:**\
“We have a prospect. Will you speak with them?”

**Referral:**\
“Who in your network could benefit from what we've helped you accomplish?”

#### Typical Referral Workflow

A referral program might allow an advocate to:

1. Agree to participate in the referral program.
2. Share or record their personal customer story.
3. Receive a personalized Story or Board containing their experience.
4. Share that content with their professional network.
5. Provide their network with a clear call to action.
6. Allow an interested prospect to request more information or a demo.
7. Capture the resulting referral lead.
8. Connect the referral activity to pipeline and eventual revenue.

***

## The Bigger Strategy

The four workstreams ultimately serve different parts of the customer journey:

| Workstream     | Primary Objective | Typical Outcome                |
| -------------- | ----------------- | ------------------------------ |
| **Community**  | Engage            | Participation & relationship   |
| **Advocacy**   | Activate          | Customer voice & proof         |
| **References** | Influence         | Sales opportunity acceleration |
| **Referrals**  | Generate          | New leads & pipeline           |

&#x20;**Examples include:**\
• Reference calls\
• Customer quotes\
• Reviews\
• Surveys\
• Referrals\
• Speaking opportunities\
• Case study participation\
\
**Request Lifecycle -** A standard request usually follows this process:\

When a new request comes in open it up and review details - update the status to **In Progress**

<figure><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/uLYCQwPgcJmZneDUQl3mpbRglCpMA09UNGBSyc5uG1k0rJaEMXsevC9Y4GfsG4khXR_InmZ5DXSBHZkw1S5dzVqJKFTtO_z8gKkhn_BE9jKeXroNFZUDdVPb34XRgBeqTs4FAkkEb5z4hznfXdfu-gs" alt=""><figcaption><p>Change the Request Status to In Progress</p></figcaption></figure>

> Note: *The Fulfillment Compainies/Memebers* is only available once the status has been set to **In Progress**

Next your Fulfillment screen opens up. Here you are now able to click **Select Companies/Members** to use search or filter or simply **+Add** a row to then select a Member and/or Company.

<figure><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/INRXu9jrK5lUNrvX3ycOkmmlo-iaj9226o06Ju5Py6wY6E5vZLkjwgEAyI28yL0oIUDZNf9_3MEtuLx0oGtW8u_DjuATD7Wpt_E3sfn_7bkgEnEbn_FoiIbWDGeoSGVV2y4zOiq2sN3fvF71cao1wpA" alt=""><figcaption><p>Start to search, filter, and select a Company and/or Member</p></figcaption></figure>

* You can select add Company or Member to add to that row.
* Make sure to select the activity type and the date you need it by
* Next you enter the Company or Member - This occurs when you do not know the Member yet but know the Company you can leave the member empty while you work the request and find the new Member to add.

# Request Automation Workflow

The Reference Request Workflow manages the full lifecycle of a customer reference request — from the moment a requester selects a Fulfillment Member (FM) or company, through approver sign-off

**Benefits of Automation: Balancing coordination & automation**

1. Automated Matching: Use profile data and rules to identify advocates at scale.
2. Human Coordination: Manually select advocates for high-touch, strategic outreach.
3. Cross-Team Visibility: Ensure sales, marketing, and success teams collaborate efficiently.

<br>

**How It Works — Step by Step**

| 1 | Requester Submits | The requester selects a specific Fulfillment Member (FM) or a company for their reference request. This triggers the workflow automatically. |
| - | ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 2 | Approval Email Sent | An email is sent to the Approver with a form to review the request. If a member was selected, the form shows that member directly. If a company was selected, the Approver sees a list of members from that company and picks who to use. |
| 3 | Approver Reviews | The approval form also includes an outreach preference: Send (system sends an automated email to the FM) or Not Send (team reaches out personally). The Approver then clicks Approve Request or Reject Request. |
| 4 | Approve or Reject | If rejected, the FM status in SlapFive is updated to Rejected and the flow stops. If approved, the FM status is updated and the next stage begins based on the outreach preference selected. |
| 5 | FM Availability Request | An email is sent to the Fulfillment Member asking for their availability. The FM selects 3 to 5 available timeslots and responds via a form — choosing Accept or Decline. |
| 6 | FM Decision | If the FM declines, their status in SlapFive is updated to Declined and the flow stops. If they accept, the status is updated to Agreed and the workflow moves forward. |
| 7 | Requester Notified | An email is sent to the requester with the FM's details and the timeslots they selected. A form is included for the requester to pick a final confirmed time after coordinating with their prospect. |
| 8 | Scheduled & Confirmed | Once the requester selects a time, the FM status in SlapFive is updated to Scheduled. The requester receives a confirmation email with the FM's details and the agreed time. |
| 9 | Post-Call Feedback | One day after the scheduled call date, an automated feedback email is sent to the FM to capture their experience and the outcome of the reference call. |

**What the Approver Sees — Approval Form Details**

| **Scenario** | **What appears in the Approval Form** |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Member selected by requester | The specific FM is displayed directly — Approver reviews and approves or rejects. |
| Company selected by requester | A list of all members from that company is shown — Approver selects which member to use for the reference request. |
| Outreach preference | Approver also sets: Send (automated email sent to FM) or Not Send (team contacts FM personally). |

<br>

**Fulfillment Member Status Flow in SlapFive**

| **Status**         | **What it means**                                                                               |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Requested | Request submitted — waiting for Approver to review and decide. |
| Rejected | Approver rejected the request — flow stops, FM is not contacted. |
| Asked | Approver approved — email sent to FM asking for available timeslots. |
| Declined | FM declined to participate — flow stops, no scheduling takes place. |
| Agreed | FM accepted and provided timeslots — requester notified to coordinate and confirm a final time. |
| Scheduled | Requester confirmed a time — call is booked, both parties have the confirmed details. |
| Feedback Requested | One day after the scheduled call, a feedback email is automatically sent to the FM. |

# Job Change Tracker

Stay Connected as Your Advocates Grow Their Careers

Your strongest customer advocates do not stay in the same roles forever. They get promoted, move to new companies, and reach important career milestones. These changes can create valuable opportunities to reconnect, celebrate their success, and continue building the relationship.

SlapFive’s Job Change Tracker (JCT) automatically monitors these changes so your team can stay informed without manually checking LinkedIn profiles.

### Job Change Tracker Overview

Once a week, Job Change Tracker reviews the public LinkedIn profiles of eligible active members and compares their current information with what was previously recorded in SlapFive.

It looks for three types of meaningful changes:

Job Changes → Identifies when an advocate has moved to a new company.

Promotions and Title Changes → Recognizes promotions and other meaningful changes in role or responsibility at the same company.

Work Anniversaries → Flags upcoming work anniversaries so your team has an opportunity to recognize important milestones.

When a change is identified, Job Change Tracker adds it to the appropriate campaign, updates the relevant LinkedIn information in SlapFive, and includes it in a weekly summary for your team.

\ <br>

### How Job Change Tracker Supports Your Program&#x20;

Your customer relationships can extend far beyond a single company or role. An advocate who moves to a new organization may become a future champion, buyer, referral source, or advocate in their new role.

Job Change Tracker helps your team turn these career moments into opportunities to:

* Maintain relationships with advocates as their careers evolve
* Congratulate customers on promotions and milestones
* Identify advocates who have moved to new organizations
* Keep customer and advocate data current
* Create natural, timely reasons to reconnect
* Reduce the manual effort of monitoring LinkedIn for changes

Instead of discovering a job change months later, your team has the information it needs to engage at the right moment.

### How Job Changes Are Identified

#### 1. SlapFive Checks Eligible Members

Each week, Job Change Tracker checks members who are:

* Active
* Have a Member status
* Have a LinkedIn URL associated with their SlapFive member record

For members being checked for the first time, SlapFive establishes a baseline by recording their current company, title, and company LinkedIn page. No change is reported during this initial check.

#### 2. Job Changes Are Identified

SlapFive compares the member’s current LinkedIn company with the company previously recorded.

The system accounts for minor naming differences, such as abbreviations, capitalization, punctuation, and common company suffixes, to avoid incorrectly reporting a change.

When the information requires additional interpretation, AI evaluates the available profile information to determine whether the member has truly changed employers or whether the difference is related to something like a rebrand, subsidiary, or alternate company page.

Confirmed job changes are added to the Job Change Tracker campaign and included in the weekly summary.

#### 3. Promotions and Title Changes Are Identified

If the member is still at the same company, Job Change Tracker compares their current title with the title previously recorded.

Minor variations that mean the same thing, such as "VP" and "Vice President," are not considered changes.

For meaningful differences, AI helps determine whether the change represents a:

* Promotion
* Lateral move
* Demotion

Confirmed changes are recorded in SlapFive and surfaced in the weekly summary.

#### 4. Upcoming Work Anniversaries Are Flagged

For members who remain at the same company, Job Change Tracker also looks at their current role start date.

When an eligible work anniversary falls within the upcoming tracking window, it is included in the weekly summary along with the company, anniversary date, and number of years.

First-year anniversaries are not reported.

### Your Weekly Job Change Summary

After each weekly run, your advocacy team receives one consolidated email with an overview of what Job Change Tracker found.

The summary organizes updates into five categories:

* Anniversaries: Upcoming work anniversaries worth celebrating.
* Job Changers: Advocates who have moved to a new company.
* Promotions: Advocates who have moved into a more senior role.
* Other Title Changes: Lateral moves and other meaningful role changes.
* Needs Review: Profiles where SlapFive could not confidently determine what changed.

Each entry links directly to the member in SlapFive, making it easy to review the change and decide on the appropriate next step.

You will receive the summary even when no changes are detected, so you always know the weekly check was completed.

### When a Change Needs Review

Job Change Tracker is designed to prioritize accuracy over automatically making a change when the information is unclear.

A member may be placed in Needs Review when:

* Their previous role still appears active on LinkedIn
* LinkedIn does not provide enough information to identify a current role
* The system cannot confidently determine whether a company or title change represents a meaningful career move

In these cases, no changes are made to the member’s SlapFive record. Your team can review the profile and determine whether the LinkedIn URL, profile information, or member record needs to be updated.

### From Career Change to Customer Opportunity

Job Change Tracker gives your team more than updated data. It gives you timely reasons to engage.

Whether an advocate earns a promotion, celebrates an anniversary, or moves to a new company, SlapFive helps you identify the moment so you can decide how to act on it.

The result is a more current advocate network, stronger long-term relationships, and more opportunities to keep your best customers connected to your brand wherever their careers take them.

# Activities Willing to Do

* Activity Types represent the different ways that customers can engage with the company and each other when they participate in the customer voice program.
* Each Activity Type has an Engagement Score, which represents the score that a customer receives for participating in this Activity, and is used to calculate Customer Engagement Scores.
* The Admin user can change the label and the Engagement Score for predefined Activity Types, and assign a label and Engagement Score for new Activity Types she creates.

**There are Parent Activity Types and there are Child Activity types.**

* Parent = the activity the Customer/Member/Advocate is willing to do what they said yes to on their sign up form.
* Child activity = the completed activity your Customer/Member/Advocate Completed&#x20;

**For example:**

* Parent activity type = Speaker
* Child Activity type = logged an activity for your advocate Speaker with child activity Speaker at CXCon 2026

# Customer Invite Form Examples

Forms to use for customer invite to program and internal nominations

Any form will work to integrate for your Customer Invite form - the SlapFive team can create a custom form for you or you can leverage an in house form&#x20;

Most used: Google forms, Hubspot, Survey Monkey, Airtable, Asana, SmartSheet

* You need to include First Name, Last Name, Email and Company at a minimum.&#x20;
* The other criteria you want to collect is their activity types willing to do - and have them match to the backend user settings of SlapFive.

**Before Migration**\
Prepare:\
• Member records\
• Company records\
• Required fields\
• Duplicate cleanup\
• Naming standards\
\
**Common Data Sources**\
• Salesforce\
• Forms\
• Customer communities\
• Customer success platforms\
• Spreadsheets\
\
**One-Time Imports vs Ongoing Syncs**\
Some organizations import data once, while others maintain automated integrations.\
\
**Best Practices**\
• Define a source of truth\
• Align field mappings carefully\
• Audit sync quality regularly\
• Validate imported data before launch\
• Maintain governance ownership

# AI Call Insights Workflow

Define and implement a workflow to capture insights from Gong call recordings and convert them into actionable advocacy, reference, and content opportunities within SlapFive.

<figure><img src="/files/ICQ6MxxXQL1AheeFNrqD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Start With Clear Goals

Define what you want to measure or monitor:

* General advocacy intent
* Existing hidden advocacy
* Specific advocacy activity mentions
* Customer outcomes & value statements
* Align tracker design with business questions you want answered, not just “nice to know.” For example:
  * “Which customers express general interest in participating in advocacy activities (‘intent’)?”
  * “Which customers are already advocating for us but whose activities are not being captured in SlapFive?”
  * “Which customers have mentioned specific advocacy activities (upcoming events, customer story, review, etc.) and need to be followed up on quickly?”
  * “Which customers are describing clear outcomes and value statements, such as time to value and cost savings”

***

#### 2. Use Precise Keywords & Variants

* Include synonyms, nicknames, and acronyms (e.g., for Salesforce: “SFDC,” “Salesforce.com,” “SF”)
* Add common misspellings and spoken shorthand
* For products, include both brand names and generic descriptors (“HubSpot” AND “marketing automation”)
* Test real transcripts before finalizing

***

#### 3. Connect to Action

* Decide what happens when a tracker fires:
* Creates a new Activity in SlapFive (For example: A customer who has mentioned completing a reference call in the wild or participating in a webinar with another team)
* Creates a customer voice asset (For example: A customer has described tangible ROI, made a competitive mention, or expressed satisfaction with the resolution of a problem)
* Logs a new entry to a Targeted Advocates campaign (For example: A customer has expressed general interest in participating in advocacy activities or a high level of overall satisfaction)

# How SlapFive uses Workato

SlapFive uses Workato as its integration and workflow automation platform to securely connect with customer systems (e.g., CRM, marketing automation, customer success platforms).

Workato enables SlapFive to automate data flows and business processes without requiring custom-built integrations.

***

### What Workato Does in SlapFive

Workato acts as an **orchestration layer** between SlapFive and external systems.

Typical use cases include:

* Syncing customer and contact data (e.g., from Salesforce, HubSpot)
* Triggering workflows based on customer activity
* Sending or receiving data via APIs or webhooks
* Automating processes like customer nominations, advocacy actions, and reporting updates

Workato does **not function as a system of record**.

***

### Data Handling Model

* **In transit:** Data is securely transmitted between systems via encrypted API calls
* **Processing:** Workato processes data in real-time to execute workflows
* **At rest:** Minimal data is stored, limited to:
  * Job execution logs
  * Metadata required for workflow operation

SlapFive configures workflows to **minimize data persistence** within Workato wherever possible.

***

### Types of Data Processed

Depending on the customer’s configuration, Workato may process:

* Contact data (e.g., name, email, company)
* Customer account data
* Activity or engagement data
* Workflow-related metadata

Sensitive data (e.g., financial, health, or highly regulated data) is **not required** for standard SlapFive use cases.

***

### Security & Compliance

Workato maintains industry-standard security controls, including:

* SOC 2 Type II compliance
* Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+)
* Encryption at rest (AES-256)
* Role-based access controls (RBAC)
* Audit logging and monitoring

SlapFive enforces least-privilege access and secure credential management when configuring integrations.

***

### Data Flow Architecture (High-Level)

1. External system (e.g., CRM) triggers an event or API call
2. Workato receives and processes the event
3. Workato executes workflow logic (transform, route, trigger actions)
4. Data is sent to SlapFive and/or other connected systems

Workato acts only as a **transient processor**, not a destination for long-term storage.

***

### Subprocessor Role

Workato is a **subprocessor** in the SlapFive architecture.

* It processes data solely to execute customer-configured workflows
* It does not independently use or analyze customer data
* Its access is limited to the scope required for integration tasks

Workato is included in SlapFive’s official subprocessor list and governed under applicable Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).

***

### Customer Control & Configuration

* Integrations are configured per customer requirements
* Customers control which systems are connected and what data is shared
* Workflows can be customized to limit or exclude specific data fields

***

### Summary

* Workato enables secure, scalable integrations without custom code
* It operates as a real-time workflow engine, not a data store
* Data exposure is minimized and controlled by design
* It meets enterprise security and compliance standards

# Revenue Influence

This section describes how to activate SlapFive's native Revenue Influence tracking and reporting capabilities.

### Upgrade to the latest version of the Salesforce App

You must be on the latest version of the SlapFive Advanced Salesforce App. [Click here to install or upgrade](https://docs.slapfive.com/integrations/salesforce/slapfive-advanced-app).

### Set up Revenue Influence in Client Settings

1. Go to **Admin > Client Settings > Revenue Influence** tab.
2. In the **Influence Activity Type Scoring** section, modify the **Default Score** for each Influence Activity if you want a different score for what is already there, and click **Save**. Focus on:&#x20;
   1. **Fulfillment** - the score assigned when Request Fulfillment Members are Completed.
   2. **View** - the score assigned when Stories or Boards are shared and viewed.
   3. **Referral Activity** - the score assigned when a customer submits a referral.
3. In the **Refresh Influence Events** section, click the **Refresh** button. This creates SlapFive Revenue Influence Event and Influence Activity records for all Requests and Shares/Views that already exist in SlapFive with Opportunity IDs attached.
4. In the **Backfill Missing Opportunities** section, click the **Create Missing Opportunities** button. This creates full SlapFive Opportunity records for every Opportunity ID entered on a Request.

### Copy Revenue Influence Dashboard to Client Instance

This is performed by your SlapFive CSM.

1. Go to **Admin > Manage Clients > Clients** tab.
2. Scroll down to the client instance, and click the blue **Copy Sandbox Dashboards** button.
3. Go to **Dashboards**, and verify that the Revenue Influence dashboard tab appears.

### Activate the Refresh Opportunities automation

This is performed by SlapFive. In the SlapFive Automation Server, activate the automation that refreshes SlapFive Opportunity data from the corresponding records in the CRM.

# SlapFive UpHigh AEO Planning Guide

This section describes the steps to take to activate SlapFive UpHigh to optimize how your company and products are included in AI bots like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

### 1. Mine existing customer content for new Stories

Your company has done many customer interviews and video shoots to generate customer content. The video recordings and transcripts from these events are loaded with amazing AEO content that "hit the cutting room floor", meaning customer responses that didn't make it into the traditional Challenge-Solution-Result case study or 3 minute testimonial video.

Your SlapFive CSM will guide you on how to extract the golden nuggets from these recordings and transcripts, and turn them into Stories that the answer engines LOVE.

### 2. Create a Custom Domain

You'll want the AEO pages that SlapFive generates to be rendered within your company's domain. This is done by creating a Custom Domain. If you've already created a Custom Domain for rendering Boards, you are all set, we'll use that domain. Otherwise, [follow the steps here to configure a custom domain](/customizations/configure-a-custom-domain-for-your-slapfive-boards).

### 3. Activate SlapFive UpHigh

Go to **Settings > Basic** and scroll to the **UpHigh** section.

* [ ] Check **Enable UpHigh for this client**.
* [ ] Enter a **Brand Description**. Describe what your company and products do. You may want to ask your Marketing Communications team for help here. This description appears in your llms.txt file to help AI systems understand your brand context.&#x20;

### 4. Identify the Stories to include in AEO

You have many types of Stories, you need to identify the ones that should be read by the answer engines to improve your AEO. There are two ways to do this:

#### One Story at a time:

Edit a Story, and check the **Enable UpHigh** box.&#x20;

# Release Notes

# 2026

### September 2026

* Dashboards:
  * Drill-down: You can now click on any element of a chart or graph to drill down into a list of records represented by that element.

### August 2026

* Referrals:
  * There is now a dedicated Referrals object and menu option for tracking the progress of submitted customer referrals. Previously, Referrals were tracked using a Campaign.
  * Both the Referrer and the Referral are tracked as Members and Companies. There is a new Member Type value for Referral so you don't include Referrals in your Advocate count.
  * Submitted Referrals automatically create Revenue Influence records.
* Surveys Enhancements:
  * There is a new Survey response style called Chat, which mimics the AI bot experience for survey responders.
  * You can define Custom Action Rules to trigger automate action for Survey and Prompt response events. Common use cases:
    * Have a Prompt response update the Member's Activity Types Willing to Do, Avatar, or any standard or dynamic field.
    * Have a Survey response notify another team if a response contains a certain value.
* Dynamic Fields:
  * You can now add Dynamic Fields to the native SlapFive Opportunity object. These can be used to capture custom Salesforce Opportunity and Account fields within SlapFive.
* User Experience Enhancements:
  * On the Member and Company Profile pages, you can configure which columns appear in each list of related objects, such as Activity History and Campaigns.
  * You can now hide standard Fulfillment Member fields of you don't have a need to override the Request Need By Date, Activity Type, and Assigned To fields at the Fulfillment Member level.
  * On the Stories tab, in Card view, you can click anywhere in the card to preview that Story.
  * For a PICK ONE or PICK MANY dynamic field, you can sort the picklist values with one button click.
* API:
  * There is a new API endpoint to POST Assets.
  * There is a new Webhook and GET, GET by ID, and POST endpoints for Referrals.

### July 2026

* Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): SlapFive has added many features to help ensure that customer content stored in SlapFive is put to work to help ensure that your company and products are included in the conversations that your potential buyers have with answer engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.
  * SlapFive generates distinct pages for each Story, using your subdomain, that expose customer content in question/answer pairs, which is highly sought by AEO bots
  * SlapFive generates a sitemap for these pages that ensure the AEO bots are trained on this content.
* Surveys Enhancements:
  * There is now a Finish Later button on the Open Survey response screen. If the responder clicks that button, SlapFive sends an email to the email address they entered on the first screen with a link they can use to respond at a later date.
  * If the responder just closes the browser tab part way through, there is a new setting on the Survey for what to do the next time they click the Open Survey link and enter the same email address on the first screen:\
    – SlapFive detects that there is an in-progress response for that email address and presents the responder with this screen where they choose whether to continue with the one in progress or start a new response.\
    – Always take them to where they left off\
    – Always start a new response
  * Responders can back up to earlier Prompts in the Survey, change their responses and SlapFive keeps an audit trail of all the responses.
  * For any Prompt, you can uncheck the Create Story From Response field to avoid creating Stories. In your case, I suggest we uncheck this field as we don’t need to create Stories to generate the Board, we strictly use the Response data.
  * The user interface for adding Prompts to a Survey now allows you to search and filter on Prompts to find the ones to add.
* SSO Enhancements:
  * You can require that the SSO IdP provide a Role/Group.
  * You can define a default Role to assign a User when the SSO IdP doesn’t pass a Role/Group. This is useful when you are using SSO to protect Boards for use cases like Sales Win Wires, and you don’t want to explicitely add every user to the SlapFive App.

### June 2026

* AI and MCP Server:
  * Claude Cowork Connector: You can now connect to SlapFive’s MCP Server from Claude Cowork, and access a set of Skills within Cowork.
  * Microsoft Copilot Connector: You can now connect to SlapFive’s MCP Server from Microsof Copilot.
* Clone an Instance:
  * This allows you to create a Sandbox instance of SlapFive for testing.
* Advanced Filters Enhancements:
  * Members list: Filter on Salesforce Contact ID and Salesforce Account ID
  * Companies list: filter on Salesforce Account ID
  * Requests list: filter on Opportunity ID
  * Fulfillment Members list: Filter on Salesforce Contact ID, Salesforce Account Id, and Opportunity Id
  * All lists that show Activity Types: See the Activity parent/child hierarchy in the Filter dropdown
* Requests Enhancements on the Fulfill Request Screen:
  * There is an option to hide the Save and Respond button.
  * In the list of Fulfillment Companies & Members, you can hide the Need By Date, Activity Type, and/or Assigned To columns.

### May 2026

* Surveys: SlapFive has turned Prompt Groups into a robust Surveys feature:
  * There are two new Presentation Styles for Surveys in addition to the Standard: 1) Conversational, which is a chat-style interface where questions appear as bot bubbles and answers as replies, similar to ChatGPT or Claude interface, 2) Wizard, which animates slide-cards with a progress bar and step counter.
  * You can now have Prompt responses that update Member or Company profile fields, add Member Activity Types Willing to Do, and trigger automated workflows.
  * You can do NPS Surveys by having an NPS Score question that is Numeric response with a horizontal buttons from 0-10, and then condition the next question based on the response to the NPS Score question.
  * You can launch Surveys from SlapFive Embeds that are embedded in any other app.
  * You can set the order of the Allowed Response Type when multiple options are provided.
  * You can add Select One and Select Many multiple choice questions, show the options in an expanded list or dropdown, and set the minimum and maximum number of choices allowed for Select Many.
  * You can turn off the creation of Stories for a Prompt for cases where you’re not capturing customer voice.
  * You can set each Prompt as Required or show a “Skip this Question” option on the response screen.
  * You can set Action Rules to do things like skip to a particular question based on the answer to a previous question and send response notifications.
  * There are new webhooks and API endpoints for Completed Surveys and Getting Survey Responses that enable unlimited automation scenarios.
* Embeds Enhancements:
  * You can embed Advocate Profiles within your customer community platform. The Advocate Profile shows the Advocates Engagement Score, Available Points, place in your tier structure, personalized Advocacy Opportunities, completed Activities, and the ability to update Activity Types Willing to Do.
  * You can embed Surveys in your own apps.

### April 2026

  * You can generate Revenue Influence records for all Requests and Content Shares/Views that are associated with Opportunities.
  * There is a new dashboard with many out of the box Revenue Influence charts and graphs.
* Sales Opportunities: To enable Revenue Influence Reporting and to provide more visibility into Sale Opportunities while fulfilling reference requests, SlapFive has added an Opportunities object.
  * The Opportunities object stores Name, Description, URL, Stage, Amount, Created Date, Close Date, Is Closed?, Is Won?, CRM, Type, Lead Source, and Account ID.
  * There is a calculated Length of Sales Cycle field that calculates the number of days between the Created Date and Close Date.
  * There is a new menu tab for viewing all Opportunities.
  * On the Fulfill Request screen, you can click a new Opportunity icon to open a tray to see all the Opportunity fields.
  * You can refresh Opportunities from the CRM at any time to get updated fields like Stage and Amount.
* Analytics & Reporting Enhancements:
  * A drill-down feature has been added to lists and charts so you can, for example, click a customer name to go to their Member screen or click a pie chart slice to see the records that comprise that slice.
* Security:
  * SlapFive engaged an outside party to conduct the annual Penetration Test and resolved all findings.

### March 2026

* Embeds: SlapFive has introduced a major new module called Embeds.
  * Embeds allow you to render SlapFive data and features on stand-alone pages and embedded as widgets within other apps.

# 2025

### December 2025

* Hide Standard Fields: Since SlapFive users take full advantage of Dynamic Fields, often in place of standard fields, you now have the ability to hide your unused standard fields on the Company, Member, and Request objects.
  * Hidden standard fields don’t appear on the Edit screens, Profile pages, lists, and advanced filters.
* Member Primary and Additional Emails: This solves the problem that your customers often engage with you using different email addresses – they register in your app with one format of their business email (<jsmith@company.com>), join the community with another version (<john.smith@company.com>), and sign up for training courses with their gmail. This results in duplicate Members in S5, and as these Members perform actions, they accumulate Activity records across multiple Members so you can’t see the total activities and score for a person.
  * On the Create/Edit Member screen, in addition to the Primary Email we have today, you can enter multiple Additional Emails for that Member.
  * If an Additional Email already exists for another Member, you get stopped from duplicating it on the current Member.
  * When an API posts to any one of those emails, it direct it to that Member.
  * All functions where we get and use an email address like Send Prompt always use the Primary Email.
  * You can click on an Additional Email to make it the Primary Email, and the Primary Email gets moved to be an Additional Email.
  * You can search on an email address and it will search both the Primary Email and Additional Email fields.
* Story Captured Dates: You can now not only track the date a Story record was created in SlapFive, but also the date you originally published the underlying content asset. This is especially useful when you migrate existing case study links and PDFs into SlapFive and you want to track when that case study was first created, which could be several years before the date it was uploaded to SlapFive.
  * On the Edit Stories screen, there is a new field called Captured Date. When creating a new Story, it defaults to today’s date but can be overridden.
  * On the Stories tab, the Story cards now show the new Captured Date.
  * All of your existing Stories show the Created date in the new Captured Date as a default.
  * The Story API endpoints and webhook now use this field.
* Member Attachments: You can now attach any type of file to a Member. This is useful for tracking contracts, permission forms, or any other file.
  * You go to the Member Profile page to upload a new file attachment to that Member and to see the files that are attached.
  * Since Member Attachments are also Assets, you can see the full list of Attachments in the list on the Assets tab.
* Dynamic Fields:
  * You can now format NUMERIC dynamic fields so their values show thousands separators, your specified number of decimal places, and a currency symbol.
  * You can add dynamic fields to the Fulfillment Company/Member object.
  * When you update dynamic field values, SlapFive now records the date that the update happened. This is used in automated workflows.
* Mass Delete records: You can now select multiple records in a list and click the Delete button to delete all the selected records at once.
  * This is enabled for these lists: Members, Companies, Boards, Stories, Activities, Prompts, Campaigns, and Campaign Items.
  * The multi-select feature only applies to one page at a time to prevent users from deleting all records by mistake.
  * SlapFive gives you two confirmation windows to double check that you are positive you want to delete all the selected records.
  * When you mass delete Members, it deletes Stories and Activities belonging to that Member.
  * When you mass delete Companies, it deletes Members belonging to that Company
  * SlapFive recommends you use this feature selectively. For example, only delete Members or Companies that were added in error. If you have Members and Companies with historical records, the best practice is to make them Inactive so you preserve the history for reporting purposes.
* Member Profile Page: Pending and Closed Requests list now show any Request Fulfillment Member Notes for that Member.
* Image Stories: When you click the preview button on Story of Type=Image, it now opens the image directly in a new tab similar to how it works for Stories of Type=File and Link.
* User Experience Enhancements:
  * On any list, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S or Cmd+S to open the Search box.
  * On the Members list, you can select multiple Members and add them to a Member list with one click.
  * On the Fulfillment Company/Member’s Member Profile tray, you can now see Stories for that Member and click the +Add button to create a new Story on the fly.
* &#x20;Exports:
  * The export feature for all objects that enable association with Strategic Initiatives now include the selected Strategic Initiatives in the exported data.
  * You can now export any list in the Tracking module.
  * The Requests export now includes the Opportunity ID and the Activity Type name.
* API Endpoints and Automations:
  * The POST Stories endpoint allows you to upload audio, video, and other files (i.e. PDF) by including a media URL in the request body.
  * The POST Companies endpoint allows you to upload audio, video, and other files (i.e. PDF) as Company Attachments by including a media URL in the request body.
  * The POST Companies endpoint allows you to update the Anonymized Name.
  * The POST Companies endpoint allows you to upload the Company Logo. This enables integration with other systems to add logos.
  * The POST Members endpoint allows you to upload audio, video, and other files (i.e. PDF) as Company Attachments by including a media URL in the request body.
  * The POST Members endpoint allows you to upload Member Avatar image and Company Logo image. This enables integration with other systems to add avatars and logos.
  * The GET Boards endpoint now retrieves the How To Use field so that it can be passed in automated workflows with sales portals and Salesforce.
  * The GET Customers (Member) endpoint retrieves the Customer Avatar image URL so that it can be passed in automated workflows with communities.
  * There are DELETE endpoints for Members, Companies, Requests, Activities, Boards, Stories, Activities, Prompts, Shares, and Views.

  * You can create Activity records with negative scores to represent redemptions.
  * The Customer Lifetime Engagement Score calculated field does not take into account redemptions.
  * There is a new Available Points for Redemption calculated field that reduces Lifetime Score by the redeemed points to show the Available points.
* Community integration: To make it even easier to surface and activate advocates from within your customer community, we have a new API endpoint that lets the Community platform retrieve SlapFive Prompts to display as advocacy opportunities in the Community.

When a Member’s LinkedIn Title or LinkedIn Company URL changes, you get notified, the Member is added to the Job Change Tracker Campaign, and you can communicate with them to get them to bring you into their new company. * Dynamic Fields: There are two new Dynamic Field Types for Company and Activity Type. These are both especially useful when defining Campaign columns. For example:
  * Activity Type: You create a Campaign to get Members to do a certain Activity. Rather than create a PICKONE Dynamic Field and re-create your Activity Types, you create a Dynamic Field on the Campaign Item entity of TYPE Activity Type so that when managing items in a Campaign, you can assign Activity Types to an item.
  * Company: You create a Campaign where you are tracking things only at a Company level, you now create a column using a Dynamic Field of TYPE Company.

  * On the Fulfill Request screen, when you click the button to Select Fulfillment Members, there is a new column in the tray that shows an indicator next to any Member who has a limit specified for the Activity Type of the Request. The indicator is green if the customer is under their limit, yellow if using them on this request will cause them to reach their limit, or red if they are already over their limit.
  * You can hover over that visual indicator to see a tooltip that shows the Member’s Limit per quarter, the number of times the Member has Completed the Request’s Activity Type in the current quarter, and the number of Pending Requests in which the Member has been flagged as a Fulfillment Member to complete this same Activity in the current quarter.

* When a sales rep shares a Board with a prospect, the sales rep is Cc’d on the email that is sent to the prospect. This gives the sales rep confirmation that the email was sent, allows the prospect to respond to the sales rep, and enables the sales rep to forward the email to Salesforce for tracking.

### September 2021

* Member Custom Fields:
  * In Client Settings, you can now define Custom Fields to appear on the Edit Member screen.
  * On the Edit Member screen, you can now enter values into Custom Fields.

  * Provide a warning on very old browser versions that don’t support video capture.
* On the Edit Prompt screen, you can upload an image, and then render that image on Boards. An example use case for this: You have a Board that presents opportunities for customers to engage with your company, the market, or their peers. You can now show a decorative image for each opportunity.

* You can now send a Prompt or Prompt Group to a Member Group.
* Member Groups can now be deleted.
* The API endpoints for GET and POST Stories now include Tags, Custom Story Label, Status, Captured Date, and Next Review Date.

### June 2021

* All emails sent by SlapFive for notifications and confirmations will now come from sender “<admin@slapfive.com>” and sender label “SlapFive” unless you have set up the Custom Email Sending Domain feature. This avoids the likely situation of these emails getting blocked by anti-spoofing software.
* Requests:
  * You can now archive old Requests. Simply check the Archived? field for any Request in the “Fulfilled” or “UnFulfilled” columns and it won’t appear in that column unless you check the “Include Archived” box at the top of the list.
  * For any Request in the “UnFulfilled” column, you can now add a Reason Unfulfilled code. This allows you to track reasons why a request went unfulfilled, such as if the prospect no longer needed it, the deal was lost, etc.
* The Create/Update Customers API endpoint will now use the Salesforce Contact ID and Account ID values if passed to check to see if the SlapFive Member or Company, respectively, already exist. If the Contact ID is not matched or passed, it will then check for existing Member using Email Address. If the Account ID is not matched or passed, it will then check for existing Company using Company Name.
* The Create Requests API endpoint now includes the ability to pass all the fields on the Request, so that it can now be used both for creating New Requests as well as uploading historical, Fulfilled Requests.

### May 2021

* On the Companies tab, you can click a Company name to see the new Engagement Dashboard for that Company. On this page, you can:
  * See the rolled up Engagement Score, Response Rate, and days since Last Activity for all Members from this Company.
  * See Engagement Notes and Permissions for the Company.
  * See the Activity History for all Members from this Company.
  * See Stories contributed by any Member from this Company.
  * See all Boards that contain at least one Story contributed by a Member from this Company.
* Requests:
  * In Client Settings, there is a new field called “New Request Text Explanation”, and the text entered in this field will be displayed at the top of the New Request form. This can be used for things like giving instructions to the requester or explaining your SLA for working requests.
  * When reviewing Requests in the “New” or “In Progress” columns, the user can assign the Request to a particular user by selecting their user name in the “Assigned To” field. This field can also be specified on the New Request form when initiated from within SlapFive, but not when initiated from within Salesforce.
  * If a user assigns a Request to another user, that other user will receive a notification that a new Request has been assigned to them.
  * When a Request is dragged from the “New” or “In Progress” column to the “Fulfilled column”, and there is not already a Fulfilled Date selected, the user will be prompted to see if they want to use today’s date as the Fulfilled On Date. Similarly, if a Request is dragged from the “Fulfilled” column back to the “In Progress” or “New” column, the user will be prompted to see if they want to clear the Fulfilled On Date.
  * When a new Request is submitted, the requester will now receive a confirmation email.
  * In Client Settings, you can now define picklist values for a new field called Teams, and if values are defined, a new Team field will appear on the New Request form.
  * In Client Settings, you can now flag an Activity Type to “Include on Request Form”. When this field is checked, this Activity Type will now appear in the drop-down list for a new field on the New Request form called “Activity Type”. If no Activity Types are flagged with this field, the Activity Type field will not appear on the form. This field is used to allow the Requester or the Marketer to categorize Requests based on the type of activity that is being requested, such as “Take a Customer Reference Call” or “Host a Site Visit”.
* Though we don’t recommend this behavior, it is now possible to set a Board so that the videos on that board continue to play when the viewer navigates to another tab in their browser.
* You can now display a prompt’s “Create Date”, “Respond By Date”, and “Activity Granted on Response” field values on a board. These fields can be used to create a board that shows current advocacy opportunities that are available to members.
* SlapFive API:
  * There are new endpoints to GET Board Share and Board View history. These will be used by the Revenue Influence Measurement feature.
  * There is a new endpoint to POST Stories, which can be used to upload existing content into SlapFive, especially links to case studies or press releases from the corporate website.
  * There is a new endpoint to POST Requests, which can be used to allow anyone from outside of SlapFive or Salesforce to submit a new Request using a simple form.

### April 2021

* The Remote Audio Capture feature has been re-implemented to record the audio locally on the responder’s device, and when the response is saved, the file is uploaded to SlapFive.
* The Company advanced filter now lets you multi-select Company-level Permissions to filter the list of companies.
* The Edit Member screen now has fields for Nominated By and Nominated Date. These fields can also be populated by your Nomination form.
* The GET Requests API endpoint now allows a parameter of ?fulfillmentHoursBack=XX to only retrieve Requests with a Fulfilled On Date within that timeframe.

### March 2021 - Version 3.0

* Remote Video Capture:
  * This feature has been re-implemented to record the video locally on the responder’s device, and when the response is saved, the video file is uploaded to SlapFive. This eliminates the pixilation (AKA the “Monet Effect”) that could occur in the video from packet loss if the responder has a slow internet connection. It also eliminates the “Connecting” message at the beginning of the prompt response experience, and the “Processing” message after a video is recorded.
* New Prompt and Story Types: Many of you want SlapFive to be your single place to manage all of your customer voice assets so you can make everything available to sales reps and other people who need access to all of your great content. To help you do this:
  * You can create Stories for existing web pages like Press Releases or Case Studies on your website. To do this, you create a Prompt with an Allowable Story Type of “Link”, and create Stories with Story Type of “Link” where you paste the URL. For example, you can create a Prompt called “Press Release” and create a Story for each press release on your website.
  * You can create Stories for files like Powerpoint slides and PDFs. To do this, you create a Prompt with Allowable Story Type of “File”, and create Stories with Story Type of “File” where you upload the file. For example, you can create a Prompt called “Customer Slide” and create a Story for each customer PowerPoint slide.
  * When Stories of type “Link” or “File” appear in a list of Stories, when you click the Preview button, it will take you directly to the linked page or open the file, respectively.
  * To help you give identifying names to the new “Link” and “File” type Stories, there is a new field on the Story that lets you enter a “Custom Story Label”. For example, if you have 10 Stories that use the Prompt for “Press Release”, you can enter a Custom Story Label with the headline of the Press Release. When any story with a Custom Story Label appears in a list of Stories, it automatically displays the Custom Story Label in place of the Prompt Name.
* Company enhancements: Many of you want to manage and track information, membership status, and permissions at a client Company level. To help you do this:
  * There is a separate tab for Companies. A Company can be created without a Member.
  * You can now track Company-level permissions, such as “Can use logo on our website” and “Referenceable”. In your Client Settings, you define your Company Permission Types, and then on the Company record, you select values of “Granted”, “Denied”, or “Unknown”.
  * There are new fields on the Company record for Member Status and Active Status to track where a Company stands in your customer program.
  * If you have a customer that has a legal restriction that you can’t use their company name under any circumstances, there is a new field for “Anonymized Company Name” that lets you enter a value such as “Global Pharmaceutical Company” to anonymize the company name.
  * There is an advanced filter on the Company list to search and filter on all fields.
* Any user can be set to receive notifications of responses to both Direct and Open Prompts by checking the field on the User screen. Previously, only the sender of a Direct Prompt received a notification when a response came in.
* Salesforce.com integration:
  * You can now show embedded lists of Boards and Stories within a primary tab in Salesforce, or within a Related List on any object.
  * These embedded lists apply “Viewer” role access, so there is no ability to edit or delete the information.
  * When Salesforce users view these lists, they are authenticated with SSO so they don’t need to be set up as users of SlapFive.
  * Sales people can share boards and stories, and copy URLs.
  * When a Request is submitted from the Request References button on a Salesforce Opportunity record, it now adds the Opportunity ID to the Request record. This will be used for upcoming Influence Reporting.
* It is now possible to restrict the viewing of certain boards to that only users who are authenticated to your network can view the board. This requires SSO integration with your identity provider.

### February 2021

* To make it easier to manage Member Company information, there is a separate tab for Companies. A Company can be created without a Member.
* You can create a Custom Domain so that viewers of your board feel like they are on one of your web properties. When defined, boards render with a URL like <https://customers.your\\_company.com/b/…> rather than <https://your\\_company.slapfive.com/b/…”>, and when boards are shared or when you click the Copy URL button for a board, it generates the custom domain. [See the setup instructions](https://slapfiveold.jeffernst.com/custom-domain/).
* Requests:
  * When creating a new Request, you can override the Request Date.
  * After a Request is created, the marketer can edit the Request Date, Requested By, and Need By Date.
  * The “Tags” field was removed from the Request entry screen.
* API:
  * There are new API endpoints for getting all Activity records and getting Activity records that have been created/edited in the last XX hours. This can be used for synching Activity History with Salesforce.com or other apps.
  * There is a new API endpoint for getting all Requests. This can be used for exporting Requests history to a spreadsheet for analysis.
  * The API endpoints for getting all Boards and for getting all Boards that have been created/edited in the last XX hours now get the Board URL, Board Headline and Board Body fields. These are needed for those of you who are pushing Boards to Salesforce or your Sales Portal apps so you have more descriptive information for sales reps using the boards.
  * The API endpoints for getting Members and creating new members now have parameters for Membership Status, Engagement Note, Engagement Score, Last Engagement Date, and Matching Field 1, 2, and 3.
* In Boards, you can now display a customer’s first name and last name separately. Previously you could only display the customer’s full name.

### January 2021

* To drive more customer-to-customer engagement, you can now create Board Groups so that when any one board in the group is being displayed, there is a list of Related Boards in the sidebar. As an example, this can be used if you have a “Topic of the Month” engagement tactic where you want to allow customers to share their perspective on an important topic in their field, and share the responses with all customers.

# 2020

### December 2020

* Email addresses entered by a user or by someone responding to an open prompt are now saved as lower case regardless of how they are typed in. This helps reduce the chances of duplicate members being created since there is a case-sensitive check on email address to know whether to create a new member or update existing member.

### November 2020

* To better support integration with Salesforce.com and apps built on the Salesforce platform, we have added a Salesforce ContactID field to the Member Contact, and a Salesforce AccountID to the Member Company. These fields are used by our APIs when sending information to Salesforce-based apps to connect that information to Salesforce Contacts and Accounts.
* For the Member Type field, we have added new values for “Prospect” and “Former Client” to better able you to identify people in those roles relative to your company.
* For the Membership Status field, we have added a new value for “Former Member” to designate people who have dropped out of your customer program, while allowing you to keep their content and history.
* Enhancements to the Requests module:
  * You now have the ability to designate certain users to receive email notifications when new Requests are created from within SlapFive, Salesforce, or other points of origin. To enable this for a user, check the “Notify of New Requests” field on the user record.
  * A new Delete button has been added to the Edit Request screen to delete a request that is no longer needed.
  * The Create New Request window in Salesforce has been updated so the “Save” button is now “Submit”, and it is condensed to not require scrolling to see the Submit button.
* You can automatically add new Stories that come in for a particular prompt to a specific board. To enable this, click the new “Auto Stories” tab on the Edit Board screen, and select the Prompts who’s responses you want to automatically be added to that board.
* The following fields from the Member record can now be displayed on boards. These are used for building a member showcase page to promote your program participation within your company.
  * Last Activity Date
  * Activity Types Willing To Do
  * Engagement Score
  * Engagement Note
  * Member Status

### October 2020

* The new Virtual Minute Booth feature allows you to capture stories from attendees to your virtual events.
  * To support the Virtual Minute Booth, we have rebuilt the Remote Capture capabilities to allow your customers to respond to prompts using audio or video, right from their desktop webcam. This extends the previous capability to respond on a mobile phone.
  * This includes a new user interface for the responder that uses a wizard approach to step them through multiple prompts in a prompt group.
  * There is a new storyboard template for the “outer room” of the Virtual Minute Booth that lets your event attendees see how their peers have responded to the questions.
* To create customized experiences for customers during the Remote Capture, we made these changes to Prompt Groups:
  * You can add a Video Explanation to a prompt group. It appears on the first screen of the Remote Capture wizard.
  * You can specify “Prompt Response Exit URL” and “Prompt Response Exit URL Text” on a prompt group to designate a specific web page or site that you want to re-direct people to after answering the questions in a prompt group. If specified, these values override the ones entered in Client Settings.
  * You can re-sequence prompts within a prompt group.
* New storyboard templates make it easy to showcase multiple spokespeople from the same company on single-customer layouts.
* There is a new API endpoint for creating Activity records. This can be used for importing Activity History from your legacy Reference Management app.

### September 2020

* The new Requests feature enables anyone to make a request for customer voice content or for customer participation in a reference activity:
  * There is a new primary menu tab labeled “Requests” that has a Kanban board of Requests with columns for New, In Progress, Fulfilled, and UnFulfilled, and users can drag and drop requests between those columns.
  * SlapFive users can create a new Request from this tab, and Salesforce.com users can create a new request from the blocks on the Contact and Opportunity records.
  * Users can review requests, update them, and fulfill them by attaching one or more boards or one or more members.
  * When members are attached during fulfillment, activities are automatically created for those members.
* On the Send Prompt screen, there is a new advanced filter button that lets you subset the list of members by filtering on any of the fields on the member contact and company screen, including the Activity Types Willing to Do.

### August 2020

* On the Members tab, there is a new advanced filter button that lets you subset the list by filtering on any of the fields on the member contact and company screen, including the Activity Types Willing to Do.
* On the Prompts tab, in the list of prompts, there is a new column that shows the number of stories that exist for that prompt. This helps you make sure you are getting maximum reuse of prompts and avoid unnecessary prompt proliferation.
* On the Edit Boards screen, Stories tab, the drop region for the Selected Stories column has been increased in size to make it easier to drag and drop stories on the board.

### July 2020

* On the Members tab, the Twitter Handle column has been replaced with columns for Engagement Score and Last Activity date. The member list can be sorted by Engagement Score.

### June 2020

* The integration with Salesforce.com puts a new custom block on the Salesforce.com Account and Opportunity records that:
  * Displays recommended boards for that Opportunity/Account to the Salesforce.com user based on Matching Criteria.
  * In the integration configuration, your Salesforce.com admin specifies 1, 2, or 3 fields from the Account record to match to corresponding new fields on the Member Company in SlapFive.
  * The Salesforce.com user can click the View All button to deactivate the matching criteria and show all boards that have a custom field value indicating they should appear in Salesforce.com, and can Search within the result set.
  * The Salesforce.com user can click the Request Reference button to submit a Request for content or customer references to SlapFive.
  * The Salesforce.com user can share a board by selecting Contacts associated with the Opportunity, or by typing in names and email addresses, and SlapFive tracks the sharing activity and viewing history.
  * Each of the buttons and Search field are configurable to appear nor not appear depending on your needs.
* The API now has an endpoint for creating Activities for members.
* The Sent Prompts & Responses screen has been improved to show more complete data and action buttons for sent prompts that have responses.

### May 2020

* On the open prompt response screen where the responder enters their identifying information, the Submit button is now the Next button.

### April 2020

* The API now allows you to add a Member to a Member Group.
* Several screen changes were made to the prompt response screens for clarity and usability.

### February 2020

* The Advanced Filter for Stories now lets you filter on Transcription text.
* For any Board that is set to Require Access Link, you can set a Forced Expiration Duration (in Days). If a number is entered into this field, whenever this board is shared, the sharer will see but will not be able to change the Board Link Expires, which will show the calculated expiration date by adding the number of days entered to the share date.
* Fixes were made to improve the audio and video controls when rendered in Microsoft Explorer and Edge browsers.

### January 2020

* When you send an Open Prompt Group, the responder now only has to specify their Name, Email Address, and Company once, not for each prompt in the group.
* The API was updated to handle Member Status field and Activity Types Willing to Do.
* On the Membership tab, there is a new sub-tab for Nominated, so you can track potential members who have been nominated by others.

# 2019

### Version 2.0

* We changed the term “Customer” to “Member” to represent that fact that participants in your programs can be clients, employees (sales, executives), industry thought leaders, partners, etc. Accordingly, the “Customers” tab is now labeled “Membership”, with new sub-tabs for Members, Invited, and Targets.
* In your Client Settings, you can define the Activity Types that you offer members to participate in when they join your program, and you can give each Activity Type an Engagement Score to represent the level of engagement that activity represents relative to other activities.
* For each member, you can now specify that member’s Activity Types Willing to Do, and create forms using any form-builder app to allow members to select their own Activity Types Willing to Do.
* You can now track the activities that your members participate in, logging the Date, Activity Type, and any Notes you’d like to enter.
* There is a new primary tab called Activities that shows all the activities your customers have done.
* On your SlapFive homepage, there is a summary view of the most Recent Activities.
* On the Members tab, you can click a member name to see the new Engagement Dashboard for that member. On this page, you can:
  * Toggle the Member Status between Active, Paused, and Inactive.
  * Log an Engagement Note to remind yourself or others of any special circumstances affecting this member’s participation in your program.
  * See the member’s Engagement Score, Response Rate, days since Last Activity.
  * See the Activity History for this member and log a new Activity.
* By sending Prompts, you can offer Members opportunities to engage in activities.
* On a Prompt, you can specify an Activity Granted on Response if you’d like to automatically log an activity for any member who responds to this prompt.
* On a Board, you can specify to Grant Activity on View if you’d like to log an Activity for any member who you share a board with and who subsequently views that board.

### Custom Objects

The SlapFive Salesforce App installs these custom objects:

1. SlapFive Customer Influence
2. SlapFive Customer Influence Activity
3. SlapFive Customer Activity
4. SlapFive Company
5. SlapFive Contact
6. SlapFive Board
7. SlapFive Story

The **SlapFive Customer Influence** custom object has a Master-Detail relationship with the Opportunity object. An Opportunity record can have zero to many SlapFive Customer Influence records.

The **SlapFive Customer Influence Activity** custom object has a Master-Detail relationship with the SlapFive Customer Influence object. A SlapFive Customer Influence record can have zero to many SlapFive Customer Influence Activity records.

These two objects together are used to [capture revenue influence events](#track-revenue-influence-events), enable Salesforce users to see the status of those events, associate the events with Salesforce Opportunities, and [report on customer influence on revenue](#report-on-customer-influence-on-revenue), and they contain the data as shown in this chart.

<table><thead><tr><th width="203">Influence Event</th><th width="246">SlapFive Customer Influence</th><th width="317">SlapFive Customer Influence Activity</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Reference Request</td><td>The request header: The Need, Need by Date, Activity, Request Date, etc.</td><td>The Request Fulfillment Companies &#x26; Members who have been selected to fulfill the Request.</td></tr><tr><td>Content Share &#x26; View</td><td>The share details: Content shared, Contact shared with, Share Date, etc.</td><td>The views of the shared content: View Date, View Details Link.</td></tr><tr><td>Customer Referral</td><td>The referral details: Referred Prospect, Referred By Customer, Referral Date, etc.</td><td>The Referral Score.</td></tr></tbody></table>

The **SlapFive Customer Activity** custom object is used to pull in all the different kinds of Customer Activities that are captured in SlapFive so that you can include this type of customer engagement in your influence reporting, and show the activities that customers are doing on the Account and Contact screens.

The **SlapFive Company, SlapFive Contact, SlapFive Board, and SlapFive Story** custom objects are used to sync SlapFive reference and content data with Salesforce to display in the custom UI component.

### Custom Fields

The SlapFive Salesforce App installs these custom fields on standard Salesforce objects:

*Opportunity:*

<table><thead><tr><th width="160">Field Label</th><th width="150">API Name</th><th width="125">Data Type</th><th>Purpose</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Influence Count</td><td>Influence_Count__c</td><td>Number (18,0)</td><td>Count of SlapFive Customer Influence records associated with this Opportunity.</td></tr><tr><td>SlapFive Influence</td><td>SlapFive_Influence__c</td><td>Formula (Text)</td><td>If Influence Score>0, "Influenced", else "Not Influenced".</td></tr><tr><td>SlapFive Influence Score</td><td>SlapFive_Influence_Score__c</td><td>Number (16,2)</td><td>Sum of Influence Score of SlapFive Customer Influence records associated with this Opportunity.</td></tr><tr><td>SlapFive Program</td><td>SlapFive_Program__c</td><td>Formula (Text)</td><td>If SlapFive Program Status of Opportunity's Account is Member, "Yes", else "No".</td></tr></tbody></table>

*Account:*

<table><thead><tr><th width="160">Field Label</th><th width="150">API Name</th><th width="125">Data Type</th><th>Purpose</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>SlapFive Program Status</td><td>SlapFive_Program_Status__c</td><td>Text (80)</td><td>Set to "Member" when there is at least one Contact for this Account who is a Member in SlapFive.</td></tr></tbody></table>

*Contact:*

<table><thead><tr><th width="160">Field Label</th><th width="150">API Name</th><th width="125">Data Type</th><th>Purpose</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>SlapFive Program Status</td><td>SlapFive_Status__c</td><td>Picklist</td><td>Used for identifying Contacts to synchronize with SlapFive. Values: Member, Targeted, Invited, Nominated, Former Member, and Rejected</td></tr></tbody></table>

The three custom objects have specific meaning when they appear as related lists on these Salesforce pages as described below:

* [Opportunity Page](#opportunity-page)&#x20;
* [Contact Page](#contact-page)
* [Account Page](#account-page)

The SlapFive Salesforce App also includes many custom report types, [reports and a dashboard](#custom-reports-and-dashboard) that provide out of the box analytics and data visualization for your customers' influence on revenue.

#### Opportunity Page

On the Opportunity page, the **SlapFive Customer Influence** custom object represents influence events that have been performed to help advance this Opportunity. Here's what this object looks like as a Related List on the Opportunity page:

![SlapFive Customer Influence on a Salesforce Opportunity page](/files/2I0jPqHAgKgXdA5MBdru)

You can see that this Opportunity has had three **SlapFive Customer Influence** events:

1. **Customer Referral:** the Opportunity first came about from a referral from another customer on January 5th.
2. **Customer Content Share:** on March 25th, the sales rep shared a SlapFive Board with this prospect.
3. **Customer Reference Request:** then on April 13, the sales rep requested a Reference.

You can then drill into any **SlapFive Customer Influence** event record to see the **SlapFive Customer Influence Activities** for that event. If you drill into a **Customer Reference Request** event, you see this screen:

![SlapFive Customer Influence Activities on a Salesforce Opportunity page](/files/LYjFUipncAyMAiwJwHJB)

You can see all the details from the **Customer Reference Request**, and you can see that this request is being fulfilled by three **SlapFive Customer Influence Activities**:

1. **Customer Reference Activity Performed:** On April 6th, the named customer completed a customer reference call.
2. **Customer Reference Activity Performed:** Another customer reference call has been scheduled with the named customer for April 8th.
3. **Customer Reference Content Sent:** A third customer wasn't available but the Customer Marketer gave the sales rep a SlapFive Recorded Reference Board that contains a customer that fits the need.

#### Contact Page

On the Contact page, the **SlapFive Customer Influence Activity** custom object represents activities that this Contact has done to influence Opportunities with other companies. The **SlapFive Customer Activities** custom object represents all activities that this Contact has participated in as part of your customer programs. Here's what these objects look like as Related Lists on the Contact page:

![SlapFive Customer Influence Activities and SlapFive Customer Activities on a Contact page](/files/v6EPUnxrRwZT0Q5uiaL5)

You can see that this Contact has done two **SlapFive Customer Influence Activities** and two other **SlapFive Customer Activities**.

#### Account Page

On the Account page, the **SlapFive Customer Influence Activity** custom object represents activities that all Contact at this Account have done to influence Opportunities with other companies. The **SlapFive Customer Activities** custom object represents all activities that all Contacts from this Account have participated in as part of your customer programs. Here's what these objects look like as Related Lists on the Account page:

![SlapFive Customer Influence Activities and SlapFive Customer Activities on an Account page](/files/V3hk4AYzCyaEwnCSAH2F)

You can see that Contacts at this Account have done two **SlapFive Customer Influence Activities** and two other **SlapFive Customer Activities**.

### Custom Reports & Dashboard

The SlapFive Salesforce App includes several custom reports that are used to produce the charts and graphs on the **SlapFive Customer Influence** Dashboard, which lets you [report on customer influence on revenue](#report-on-customer-influence-on-revenue):

![SlapFive Customer Influence Dashboard](/files/s6jGADe2h7ZycIBv4tf2)

#### Customer Influence Events and Scoring Model

SlapFive has introduced an innovative Customer Influence Scoring Model that allows you to assign relative weightings to each type of influence event.

### Features

#### Submit reference requests

Salesforce users can easily submit reference requests by entering a brief description of the need and the date needed, and the Request is automatically submitted to SlapFive. When submitted from an Opportunity record, SlapFive captures the Opportunity Name and OpportunityID and generates a Revenue Influence Event for use in Revenue Influence Reporting.

#### Follow request fulfillment

The Salesforce user who submitted the request can see the request details, along with the progress that's been made fulfilling the request which includes the customer selected, the status of that customer's participation, the date, and who's working the request.

For example: The sales rep can see that Mary Jones has agreed to be a reference, and Fred Smith has been scheduled for July 7th.

#### See recommended content

From an Opportunity page, Salesforce users can see recommended customer content based on matching criteria between fields on the Account and Opportunity and fields on the customers referenced on the customer content asset.

For example: You can recommend customer content assets that contain customers in the same industry and region as the prospect.

#### Browse, search and view customer content

Anyone can browse, search and filter all the customer content that you choose to show in Salesforce, from an Opportunity, Account, or Contact record, or from a primary navigation tab. Users can view a customer content asset before sending it to a prospect.

#### Share customer content with prospects

Salesforce users can share any SlapFive customer content assets with prospects or existing customers. When sharing content from an Opportunity record, the user can select which of the Opportunity's Contact Roles should receive the content, so that SlapFive can track the share activity and generate a Revenue Influence event each time that recipient views the content. The user receives an email notification whenever the prospect views the shared content.

#### Nominate customers to your program

Anyone in Salesforce can nominate a customer to your program. To [enable nominations](/integrations/salesforce/salesforce-automations/enable-nominate-contacts-for-your-program), you put a custom button or field on the Contact page layout.

#### Capture and track customer referrals

You can use your favorite form-builder app to create a customer referral form that captures the referring customer's name and email address, along with the name, email address, title, and company of the friend being referred. SlapFive has pre-defined automations that create an Activity in SlapFive for each referral, add that referral to your Referral Tracking Campaign, and create an Opportunity record and Revenue Influence event in Salesforce.

#### Track revenue influence events

It is critical for Customer Marketing pros to be able to show the influence that their work has on revenue. The Revenue Influence Reporting tracks many types of Influence Events, including reference requests fulfilled by customers, reference requests fulfilled by content, customer content shares and views, and customer referrals.&#x20;

Each of these types of events are captured in Salesforce custom objects called **SlapFive Customer Influence** and **SlapFive Customer Influence Activities**. These objects are associated with and shown on the Opportunity records they influenced.

#### Report on customer influence on revenue&#x20;

SlapFive provides many custom reports and a custom dashboard to provide many measures of influence, such as:

* Amount and percentage of current pipeline that has been influenced versus not influenced
* Amount and percentage of closed deals MTD, QTD, and YTD that have been influenced versus not influenced
* Closed/Won Opportunities influenced by month.
* Customer influence on win rates and length of sales cycle
* Customers by revenue influence and influence score

## SlapFive-Salesforce Data Synchronization

The SlapFive-Salesforce Data Synchronization enables bi-directional data synchronization between SlapFive and Salesforce objects.

The most common data synchronization use cases are:

* Changes to a Salesforce Contact updates SlapFive Member
* Changes to a Salesforce Account updates SlapFive Company

See [Synchronize Data between Salesforce and SlapFive](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive) for more information.

# 1. Install the SlapFive Advanced Package

This step installs the SlapFive Salesforce App managed package named SlapFive Advanced.

### Do you already have a package installed?

The latest Version Number is 4.21.

* [ ] If you currently have a package named **SlapFive App**, version 3.4 to version 4.0 installed, this installs a new package named **SlapFive Advanced**, which contains a new custom UI component and new custom objects. The install will migrate the data from the old custom objects to the new custom objects. When completed and verified, you can then remove the old package named **SlapFive App**.
* [ ] If you currently have the package named **SlapFive Advanced**, version 4.0 or higher, this install upgrades that package. If you set Matching Fields in the Custom Settings (Step 3) or changed any of the Embedded URLs for the custom UI component (Step 5), copy those settings before installing so you can easily paste them back in after the install.

### Install the SlapFive Advanced package

Go to this URL to install the SlapFive Advanced app. If not already logged in, you will be prompted to log into the Salesforce org into which you want to install the SlapFive Salesforce App:

{% hint style="info" %}
Click this link to install Version 4.21:

<https://login.salesforce.com/packaging/installPackage.apexp?p0=04tgL000000OFNh>
{% endhint %}

If you are installing for the first time, select the **Install for All Users** option and click **Install**.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of SlapFive Advanced, select the **Install for All Users** option and click **Upgrade**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Don't worry about the "You're installing a Non-Salesforce Application..." message, this will go away once Salesforce has authorized this version for inclusion on SlapFive's App Exchange listing.
{% endhint %}

# 2. Create a Named Credential

In this section, you create a Named Credential record that let's Salesforce access the SlapFive API.

The SlapFive Salesforce App supports both **Legacy Named Credentials** and Salesforce’s **new Named Credential + External Credential** model.

The Legacy Named Credential is far simpler to set up. But some organizations have governance policies that require the newer model.

# Create a Legacy Named Credential

In this step, you create a Named Credential record that let's Salesforce access the SlapFive API.

Go to **Setup** > **Security** > **Named Credentials**.&#x20;

In the dropdown menu next to the **New** button, click **New Legacy** to create a new Named Credential record.

<figure><img src="/files/Asv8UUKgbOyD2qbmCLfI" alt=""><figcaption><p>Create a new Named Credential record</p></figcaption></figure>

When creating the new record:

* [ ] **Label:** enter *SlapFive API*.
* [ ] **Name:** will auto-fill with *SlapFive\_API*, do not change it.
* [ ] **URL:** enter the base URL of your SlapFive instance, which is <https://your\\_company\\_name.slapfive.com>.
* [ ] **Identity Type:** select **Named Principal**.
* [ ] **Authentication Protocol:** select **Password Authentication**.
* [ ] **Username:** enter *slapfive*.
* [ ] **Password:** paste your **SlapFive API Key**. To get this key, log into SlapFive, go into your Client Settings, generate an API key if one doesn't already exist, copy the API Key and paste it in this field.
* [ ] **Generate Authorization Header:** uncheck this field.
* [ ] **Allow Merge Fields in HTTP Header:** check this field.

Click the **Save** button to create the new Named Credential.

# Create a New Named Credential

In this step, you create a Named Credential record that let's Salesforce access the SlapFive API.

#### Overview

This configuration:

* Stores the SlapFive API key securely using an External Credential
* Injects the API key into requests via a custom HTTP header
* Avoids hard-coding secrets in Apex, metadata, or logs

***

### Step 1: Create an External Credential

1. In Salesforce Setup, navigate to **External Credentials**
2. Click **New External Credential**

Use the following values:

* **Label:** SlapFive External API
* **Name:** SlapFiveExternalAPI
* **Authentication Protocol:** Custom

Save the record.

***

### Step 2: Create an External Credential Principal

1. From the External Credential record, create a new **Principal**

Use the following values:

* **Parameter Name (Label):** SlapFive API Key
* **Sequence Number:** 1
* **Identity Type:** Named Principal

2. Under **Authentication Parameters**, add a new parameter:

* **Name:** APIKey
* **Value:** Paste your SlapFive API key here

***

### Step 3: Add a Custom Header to the External Credential

On the same External Credential, add a **Custom Header**:

* **Header Name:** api-authorization
* **Value:**

  ```
  {!$Credential.SlapFiveExternalAPI.APIKey}
  ```
* **Sequence Number:** 1

This injects the encrypted API key into every request at runtime.

***

### Step 4: Create a Named Credential

1. In Salesforce Setup, navigate to **Named Credentials**
2. Click **New Named Credential**

Use the following values:

* **Label:** SlapFive API
* **Name:** SlapFive\_API
* **URL:** enter the base URL of your SlapFive instance, which is:\
  &#x20;     <https://your\\_company\\_name.slapfive.com>.
* **External Credential:** SlapFive External API
* **Generate Authorization Header:** Checked
* **Allow Formulas in HTTP Header:** Checked
* **Allowed Namespaces for Callouts:** slap5

Save the record.

***

### Step 5: Grant Access to the External Credential Principal

Users who need access to the SlapFive App must be granted access to the External Credential Principal. This must be added to every Permission Set that will be assigned to end users, including any cloned copies of the SlapFive managed Permission Set — clones do not inherit External Credential Principal Access automatically.

1. In Salesforce Setup, navigate to **Permission Sets**
2. Open the Permission Set assigned to your end users (e.g. your cloned SlapFive Permission Set)
3. Click **Object Settings → User External Credentials,** click **Edit**, enable **Read** access and click **Save**.
4. Click the **Permission Set Overview** breadcrumb to go back to the main screen for this Permission Set
5. Click **External Credential Principal Access,** click **Edit** and move **SlapFive External API - SlapFive API Key** to the Enabled list and click **Save**
6. Repeat for any additional Permission Sets whose users need SlapFive access

***

### **Step 6: Verify API Access on End User Profiles**

Users that belong to restricted custom Profiles must have the **API Enabled** permission active on their Profile. Without it, Salesforce will block the callouts that the SlapFive component makes, even if their Permission Set is correctly configured.

1. In Salesforce Setup, navigate to **Profiles**
2. Open the Profile assigned to your end users (e.g. Marketing User)
3. Search for **API Enabled** in the profile settings
4. Ensure it is checked
5. Click **Save**
6. Repeat for any additional Profiles whose users need SlapFive access

> ⚠️ **Note:** If end users see the error *"Error retrieving client data: You don't have read permissions on the User external credential object"*, the most likely causes are that Step 5 was not completed for their Permission Set, or that Step 6 was not completed for their Profile.

# 3. Configure Custom Settings

In this step, you configure the SlapFive Settings to enable or disable the SlapFive buttons and control their behavior.

Go to **Setup** > **Custom Code** > **Custom Settings**.&#x20;

Find **SlapFive Settings** in the list and click **Manage**.

The SlapFive Settings by default are defined at the Organization level, but you can also choose to install specific SlapFive Settings at the Profile or User levels.

When creating the new record, enter or paste the field values as follows:

<figure><img src="/files/OJcjG9HgjsKR2PmFgQ7J" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* [ ] **API Base URL:** Enter the base URL of your SlapFive instance, which is <https://your\\_company\\_name.slapfive.com>.
* [ ] **Enable Sync Cache:** Check this box if directed by SlapFive. It activates the caching of SlapFive Company, Member, Story, and/or Board data within Salesforce for faster performance for users of the custom UI components.
* [ ] **Hide Preview:** Check this box if you want to prevent Salesforce users from previewing SlapFive Boards and Stories, which will prevent them from copying the links to these assets and sharing them directly with prospects.
* [ ] **Matching Field 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5:** We recommend that you leave these fields blank for now. These fields are used as described in the [Recommend the best reference customers for a Request](/integrations/salesforce/slapfive-advanced-app/recommend-the-best-reference-customers-for-a-request) section.&#x20;
* [ ] **API Page Size (Records Per Call):** Set this to 1,000.
* [ ] **Named Credential Name:** Enter *SlapFive\_API*.&#x20;
* [ ] **Named Credential Type Legacy:** Check this box if you used the Legacy Named Credential model in Step 2.
* [ ] **Show Nominate Customer:** If you want the **Nominate Customer** button to appear on the SlapFive UI component, check this box.
* [ ] **Nominate Customer URL:** If you checked the **Show Nominate Customer** field, paste the URL of the nomination form. SlapFive's best practice for seeking Nominations for your customer programs is to put a Nominate Customer button or field right on the Contact page layout so that nominators don't have to re-key Contact information. See the [Enable Salesforce users to nominate Contacts for your program](/integrations/salesforce/salesforce-automations/enable-nominate-contacts-for-your-program) section.
* [ ] **Show Request References:** If you want the **Request References** button to appear on the SlapFive UI component, leave this field checked.
* [ ] **Show Search Box:** If you want the **Search** box to appear on the SlapFive UI component, check this field.&#x20;
* [ ] **Show View Case Studies:** Ignore. This field is no longer used.
* [ ] **Sync Execution Hour:** If using the caching of SlapFive object data within Salesforce, set this to the hour of the day that the sync should run. Enter 2 to have it run at 2AM.
* [ ] **Sync Frequency (Hours):** If using the caching of SlapFive object data within Salesforce, use this field to set the frequency of updating the cache, in hours. Enter 24 to have it sync once a day.
* [ ] **Enable External Request Events:** Ignore.

Click the **Save** button to save the SlapFive Settings.&#x20;

# 4. Assign Permissions

In this step, you give permission to Users to access the SlapFive Salesforce App components.

{% hint style="info" %}
Since this is a Managed Package, only certain fields can be changed on the the SlapFive App Permission Set. If you need to change any of the permissions granted, Clone the SlapFive App Permission Set and take away the extra permissions.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

### Assign Permission Sets to Users

Any Salesforce User who needs access to the SlapFive Salesforce App components needs to be assigned to the SlapFive App Permission Set. You can also put the SlapFive App Permission Sets into a **Permission Sets Group** and assign users to that Group.

Go to **Setup** > **Users** > **Permission Sets**.

* [ ] Click on the record **SlapFive App Permission Sets**.
* [ ] Click on the **Manage Assignments** button at the top of the page.
* [ ] Check users to assign the permission sets and click on the **Add Assignments** button.

<figure><img src="/files/1W5WgjNV6fRghKDzvJwR" alt=""><figcaption><p>Permission Sets screen</p></figcaption></figure>

# 5. Configure the custom UI component

This step lets you configure the SlapFive Reference Customers and Content custom UI component.

The **SlapFive Reference Customers and Content** custom UI component allows you to show lists of SlapFive Companies, Contacts (Members), Boards, and Stories. This component can be placed on the Opportunity, Account and Contact page layouts.

You can configure this component in these ways:

* Determine the fields that are available to the user in the Filter feature.
* Show or hide the list.
* Change the order in which the tabs display.
* Change the tab label for a list.
* [Pre-filter lists to only show the records you want to appear in Salesforce.](#pre-filter-lists-to-only-show-records-you-want-to-appear-in-salesforce)

<figure><img src="/files/0Qoom4K1uYSR4qpCDm2K" alt=""><figcaption><p>SlapFive Reference Customers and Content custom UI component</p></figcaption></figure>

## Configure the list and filter fields

Go to **Setup** > **Custom Code** > **Custom Metadata Types.**

Find **SlapFive Object Reference** in the list and click on **Manage Records.**

In the list of **SlapFive Object References**, click on **Edit** next to the list you want to configure. We will use Contacts as an example:

<figure><img src="/files/NPf3XwiQd5y3ugqD6QQd" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* [ ] **Embedded URL:** In this field you will see the URL for the SlapFive API endpoint that is called to retrieve the data from SlapFive. In this URL, there are three available parameters:
  * [ ] **fields=** This parameter contains a comma-separated string of the internal field names of all the SlapFive fields you want to use for recommending Companies, Contacts and/or Stories, for appearing in the List columns and Filter tray. Let your SlapFive Coach know what fields you want, and we'll provide you with their internal names. DO NOT CHANGE anything that appears before the "fields=" parameter.
  * [ ] **\&display\_table\_fields=** This parameter contains a comma-separated string of the internal field names and their labels that you want to appear as the List columns. Place a colon between the field name and the label. For example, if you want the Company name to appear as a column with the label "Company Name" and Company Size to appear with label "Tier", you'd include \&display\_table\_fields=name:Company Name,size:Tier
  * [ ] **\&display\_filter\_fields=** This parameter contains a comma-separated string of the internal field names and their labels that you want to appear in the Filter tray as filterable fields. Place a colon between the field name and the label. For example, if you want the Products Owned and Industry fields to appear in the filter, with labels "Products Owned" and "Industry", you'd include \&display\_filter\_fields=dynamicFields.products:Products Owned,industry:Industry
* [ ] **Is Active:** Uncheck this field if you want to hide the Boards tab and embedded list.
* [ ] **Tab Order:** Change this number to the order in which you want this list's tab to appear, left to right, relative to the numbers of the other lists.&#x20;

### Change Labels

In the list of **Custom Metadata Types**, find **SlapFive Label** and click on **Manage Records.**&#x20;

In the list of **SlapFive Labels**, click on **Edit** next to the Label you want to change, type your desired text in the **Label Value** field, and click Save.

## Pre-filter lists to only show records you want to appear in Salesforce

You will most likely want to pre-filter the lists to exclude records that you never want to appear in Salesforce. For example, for each list:

* [ ] **View Companies:** only show SlapFive Companies that are Active AND are in the Member status.
* [ ] **View Contacts:** only show SlapFive Members that are Active AND in the Member status AND belong to a Company that is Active AND in the Member status.
* [ ] **View Boards:** only show SlapFive Boards that are flagged to "Show in Salesforce".
* [ ] **View Stories:** only show SlapFive Stories that are flagged to "Show in Salesforce" AND are associated with a Member that is Active AND in the Member status.

To pre-filter any of the lists, you create a **Role** in SlapFive named *Salesforce*, and add the desired Filter Conditions to the **Entity** that corresponds to each list:

<figure><img src="/files/Zhbrt7ATIn9ZldMdgUaL" alt=""><figcaption><p>Add a Role Filter for the Salesforce Role</p></figcaption></figure>

1. In SlapFive, Go to **Admin menu** > **Roles**, click the **Add Role** button, and name the new Role *Salesforce*.
2. Click the **+** button under the Filters column for the Entity to which you want to add a filter, and in the **Add Filte**r tray, select the following and click the **Save** button:

* [ ] **Entity** and **Field**: select the SlapFive object and field that you want to use to filter. You can select any standard or dynamic field for the Entity that directly corresponds to the list, as well as any Entity that the list Entity is associated with. For example, when defining filters for the Members entity, you can use Member and Company fields.
* [ ] **Comparison:** Select *equals*.&#x20;
* [ ] **Value:** Select or type the value you want to use for that field.
* [ ] **Filter Type:** Check the Hidden Filter option.

To hand-pick the SlapFive Boards and/or Stories you want to appear in Salesforce:

1. Go to **Client Settings** and add a Dynamic Field to the Stories and/or Boards entities called *Show in Salesforce*, with a **Type** of **YESNO**.
2. Go to the **Edit Boards** and/or **Edit Stories** screen for any item you want to hand pick, and check the Dynamic Field **Show in Salesforce**.

## Add the custom UI component to the Opportunity Page Layout

To add the custom UI component that contains the lists of SlapFive objects to the Opportunity Page Layout:

* [ ] Go to the page to which you want to add the embedded lists, click the **Setup** icon, and click **Edit Page**.
* [ ] Scroll down to the **Custom Components** and drag and drop the slapFive\_Reference component to the desired location on the page.

## Control which users see the custom UI component

If you want to put the custom UI component on a global Page Layout but hide it from users without permission to view it, follow these steps:

* [ ] Create a **Custom Permission** called SlapFive\_Component\_Access.
* [ ] Clone the **Permission Set** called SlapFive\_App\_Permission, and add the new Custom Permission to the cloned Permission Set.
* [ ] Assign this cloned Permission Set to the users who should have access to the SlapFive custom UI component as [described here](/integrations/salesforce/slapfive-advanced-app/4.-assign-permissions).
* [ ] Edit the Opportunity Page Layout, go to the SlapFive custom UI component > Set Component Visibility, and add a Filter that uses the new Custom Permission.&#x20;

## Add Related Lists to page layouts

Add these related lists to each of the following page layouts if not already installed:

1. **Opportunity Page Layout:** SlapFive Customer Influence
2. **Account Page Layout:** SlapFive Customer Influence Activity and SlapFive Customer Activity
3. **Contact Page Layout:** SlapFive Customer Influence Activity and SlapFive Customer Activity

To add related lists for the SlapFive custom objects:

* [ ] Go to the page to which you want to add the embedded lists, click the **Setup** icon, and click **Edit Page**.
* [ ] Scroll down to the **Custom Components** and drag and drop the related list named above to the desired location on the page.

# 6. Assign Page Layouts to Record Types

This step ensures that the Page Layouts for the SlapFive Customer Influence and SlapFive Customer Influence Activity custom objects are mapped to the right Record Types.

### SlapFive Customer Influence object

Go to **Setup** > **Objects and Fields** > **Object Manager** and click on the **SlapFive Customer Influence** object.

* [ ] Select all the cells in the **Customer Content Shared & Viewed** column, and then select **SlapFive Share Activity Layout** from the **Page Layout to Use** dropdown box.
* [ ] Select all the cells in the **Customer Reference Activity Performed** column, and then select **SlapFive Request Activity Layout** from the **Page Layout to Use** dropdown box.
* [ ] All the cells in the **Customer Referral Activity** column should already contain **SlapFive Referral Activity Layout**.
* [ ] Click **Save**.

# 7. Configure data syncing

Starting in SlapFive Advanced version 4.4, the app caches SlapFive Company, Member, Board, and Story records in Salesforce to accelerate display of the View lists in the custom UI component.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: the data syncing uses the Embedded URLs and the SlapFive Salesforce Role filters you define in Step 5.
{% endhint %}

### SlapFive Admin tab

The SlapFive Advanced App includes a tab called **SlapFive Admin** which is used to configure the data syncing between SlapFive and Salesforce. To access this tab, the User must be assigned to the **SlapFive Admin** Permission Set.

Within the SlapFive Admin screen, the **Dashboard** tab shows a summary of the Sync Status, Last Sync, and the number of records that have been synced.

![](/files/lcLRcjAxhdtVdKcFNkLc)

The **Sync Management** tab lets you schedule automatic syncs, manually execute syncs, and view the history of syncs.

<figure><img src="/files/0G2m7Gs7EMhOnrVT1C7f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When configuring your sync, these options are available:

**Sync Configuration:**

* [ ] **Enable Automatic Sync:** Turn this on to activate the data sync.
* [ ] **Sync Frequency:** Select how frequently you want to sync the data.
* [ ] **Execition Time:** Select the time of day to sync.

**Manual Sync Operations:**

* [ ] Click any of the blue buttons to manually sync the records for that object.

**Bulk Operations:**

* [ ] **Sync All Objects:** Click this button to sync all 4 objects.
* [ ] **Clear All Data:** Click this button to clear the synced data to start fresh.

**Sync History:**

* [ ] View the Sync History to confirm that the sync jobs have completed successfully.&#x20;

# Recommend the best reference customers for a Request

This section covers how to enable Salesforce users to see recommended reference customers and contacts, and select them when submitting a Request from a Salesforce Opportunity.

## Sample Use Case

Let's say that when your salespeople are asked by a buyer to speak with a reference, they typically want reference customers who are in the same industry and tier as the buyer, and who own the products that the buyer is evaluating.&#x20;

SlapFive enables you to configure the Salesforce App and SlapFive Settings so that your requesters can see a list of recommended Companies, Contacts (Members), and Stories that are in the same industry and tier, and that own those products. The requester can relax any of those criteria, and add more filter criteria. The requesters can then select from the list of recommended Companies or Contacts before clicking the Request References button to add them to the Request as Fulfillment Company/Member records.

The reference manager can then see and adjust the recommendation criteria, and begin the fulfillment process by reviewing the Companies and/or Members selected by the requester.

## Prerequisites

To use the reference customer recommendation featire, you must have these SlapFive Settings activated. In SlapFive, go to Client Settings:

* [ ] On the **Basic** tab, check the **Allow Requesters to Select Companies** field.
* [ ] On the Advanced tab, under External Base URLs, in the Salesforce URL field, paste your base Salesforce org URL. For most companies, it is like this: <https://company.lightning.force.com>.

## Configure the SlapFive Salesforce App Setup&#x20;

You can configure up to 5 fields from the Salesforce Opportunity and Account records to pass to the Request as recommendation criteria.

1. In Salesforce Setup, go to **Custom Settings**, select **Manage** next to *SlapFive Settings*, and click the **Edit** button.
2. Use the **Matching Field 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 fields** to specify the Account and/or Opportunity fields to use as recommendation criteria, by entering the *object\_name.field\_name*. Continuing our sample use case, to match on each of these fields, we would enter:
   * [ ] **The Account custom field called Tier:** *Account.Tier\_\_c*
   * [ ] **The Account standard field called Industry:** *Account.Industry*
   * [ ] **The Products specified on the Opportunity:** *OpportunityLineItem.Product*
3. Click the **Save** button.

## Configure the SlapFive Settings

In SlapFive **Client Settings**, you connect the **Matching Fields 1..5** that you specified in Salesforce to the corresponding objects and fields in SlapFive.

Click the **Search Settings** tab. In the **Salesforce Search Filters for New Requests** section, you will add a Search Filter for each Matching Field 1..5 you defined in Salesforce Setup. Click the **Add** button, enter the values as follows and click the **Save** button:

<figure><img src="/files/XbrfaQuz3t4HFrdKWCdq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* [ ] **Entity:** Select the object that contains the field you want to match, in this case *Company*.
* [ ] **Field:** Select the field you want to match, in this case *Size*.
* [ ] **Comparison:** Select *equals*.
* [ ] **Value:** Select any value for this field that you want to be the default should the Salesforce Opportunity or Account not have a value for this field.
* [ ] **Salesforce Input Order:** Set this number to the corresponding Matching Field number in Salesforce Client Settings. In this case we are mapping this to **Matching Field 1**, so we select *1*.
* [ ] **Filter Type:** Select **Hidden Filter**.

Repeat Step 3 for each Matching Field 1..5.

# Format the Text Explanation on the Request Reference form

This section covers how to apply HTML formatting characters and tags within the Text Explanation that appears at the top of the Request Reference form.

This allows you to be crystal clear with the instructions, restrictions, and service-level agreements that you present to requesters.

### Apply formatting

Go to **SlapFive Settings > New Request Text Explanation**.

Enter the **New Request Text Explanation** that you'd like to appear at the top of the form, with the formatting tags and characters.

Click **Save**.

### HTML Characters and Tags for Formatting

You can use most HTML characters and tags, including these:

<table data-search="false"><thead><tr><th>Formatting</th><th>HTML</th><th>Result / Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Bold</strong></td><td><code>&#x3C;b>text&#x3C;/b></code></td><td>Makes text <strong>bold</strong></td></tr><tr><td><em>Italic</em></td><td><code>&#x3C;i>text&#x3C;/i></code></td><td>Makes text <em>italic</em></td></tr><tr><td>Underline</td><td><code>&#x3C;u>text&#x3C;/u></code></td><td>Underlines text</td></tr><tr><td>Line break</td><td><code>&#x3C;br></code></td><td>Starts a new line</td></tr><tr><td>Paragraph</td><td><code>&#x3C;p>text&#x3C;/p></code></td><td>Creates a separate paragraph</td></tr><tr><td>Bulleted list</td><td><code>&#x3C;ul>&#x3C;li>Item 1&#x3C;/li>&#x3C;li>Item 2&#x3C;/li>&#x3C;/ul></code></td><td>Creates an indented bulleted list</td></tr><tr><td>Numbered list</td><td><code>&#x3C;ol>&#x3C;li>Item 1&#x3C;/li>&#x3C;li>Item 2&#x3C;/li>&#x3C;/ol></code></td><td>Creates an indented numbered list</td></tr><tr><td>Indented block</td><td><code>&#x3C;blockquote>text&#x3C;/blockquote></code></td><td>Indents a block of text</td></tr><tr><td>Bullet</td><td><code>&#x26;bull;</code></td><td>•</td></tr><tr><td>Non-breaking space</td><td><code>&#x26;nbsp;</code></td><td>Inserts a space that won't wrap</td></tr><tr><td>Em dash</td><td><code>&#x26;mdash;</code></td><td>—</td></tr><tr><td>En dash</td><td><code>&#x26;ndash;</code></td><td>–</td></tr><tr><td>Right arrow</td><td><code>&#x26;rarr;</code></td><td>→</td></tr><tr><td>Left arrow</td><td><code>&#x26;larr;</code></td><td>←</td></tr><tr><td>Ampersand</td><td><code>&#x26;amp;</code></td><td>&#x26;</td></tr><tr><td>Less than</td><td><code>&#x26;lt;</code></td><td>&#x3C;</td></tr><tr><td>Greater than</td><td><code>&#x26;gt;</code></td><td>></td></tr><tr><td>Copyright</td><td><code>&#x26;copy;</code></td><td>©</td></tr><tr><td>Registered trademark</td><td><code>&#x26;reg;</code></td><td>®</td></tr><tr><td>Trademark</td><td><code>&#x26;trade;</code></td><td>™</td></tr><tr><td>Left double quote</td><td><code>&#x26;ldquo;</code></td><td>“</td></tr><tr><td>Right double quote</td><td><code>&#x26;rdquo;</code></td><td>”</td></tr></tbody></table>

# Connection Failed - Action failed due to server error

This page gives you the steps to take when you receive the Connection Failed - Action failed due to server error when trying to connect SlapFive/Workato to Salesforce.

### The most likely cause

When Workato tries to connect to Salesforce but only shows **“Connection Failed – Action failed due to server error,”** 90% of the time it means Salesforce is blocking Workato from signing in. Here’s what you need to do.

Go to **Setup → Connected Apps → Connected Apps OAuth Usage.**

You’ll see a list of Connected App that users have recently authenticated with. Look for one of the following:

* **Workato**
* **Workato connector**
* **Workato OAuth Connector**

Salesforce does not literally put a red “Blocked” label here. Instead, a Connected App becomes effectively blocked when the app is restricted to “Admin approved users only”. This blocks the Integration User unless they're explicitly granted access.

#### **How to unblock:**

1. In the **Workato connector** row, click the **Manage App Policies** link.
2. Scroll to the **OAuth Policies** section and look at the **Permitted Users** field. If it says:

**“Admin approved users are pre-authorized”**

…then Salesforce is blocking Workato for all users who haven’t been assigned. To unblock it for your Integration User, there are two options:

#### Option 1 — Assign via Permission Set

1. Go to **Setup → Permission Sets**
2. Open the Permission Set used for API integrations
3. Click **Assigned Connected Apps**
4. Add **Workato connector**
5. Assign the Permission Set to the Integration User

#### Option 2 — Assign via Profile

1. Go to **Setup → Profiles**
2. Open the Integration User’s profile
3. Scroll to **Connected App Access**
4. Check the box next to **Workato connector**
5. Click Save

Once assigned, Workato is unblocked for that user.

If this doesn't eliminate the error, continue below.

***

### **Other possible causes**

The other 10% of the time that error appears, it is something more obscure. Here are the things to check, in order of likelihood.

#### **1. Confirm the Workato Connected App is installed**

Go to **Setup → Connected Apps → Manage Connected Apps**

Check that one of these appears in the list:

* **Workato connector**
* **Workato**
* **Workato OAuth Connector**

If the Workato app does not appear, the connection will fail.

**Fix:**\
You’ll need to install the Workato managed package so the Connected App becomes visible and assignable.

#### **2. Verify that the Integration User has the right permissions**

Salesforce only issues API tokens when the user has the necessary permissions.

Confirm the Integration User has:

* **API Enabled**
* **Access to the objects and fields** [shown here](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive/determine-the-salesforce-integration-user).

Missing object access or Record Type assignments commonly trigger this error.

#### **3. Check if your org is blocking non-installed Connected Apps**

Some Salesforce orgs enforce a security policy that blocks Connected Apps that are not explicitly installed in the org.

If this setting is active:

* Workato’s standard Connected App will be blocked
* You will see connection failures with no detailed error message

**Fix:**\
Install the **Workato Installed Package**, which adds an org-local version of the Workato Connected App that Salesforce will trust.

#### **4. Make sure Workato is connecting to the correct domain**

If your Salesforce org recently enabled **My Domain** or adopted **Enhanced Domains**, older connection settings no longer work.

**Fix:**\
Reconnect the Workato connection using your My Domain URL, for example:\
`https://yourdomain.my.salesforce.com`

***

#### **5. Check for IP restrictions or token policies**

If your org uses strict login or token policies, Salesforce may block Workato’s login attempt.

Please check:

* **Setup → Login Access Policies**
* **Setup → Network Access** (Trusted IP ranges)
* **Connected App Session Policies** for the Workato app

If Workato’s IP ranges are not trusted or token policies are too strict, OAuth login will fail.

#### **6. Refresh the connection in Workato**

Sometimes the simplest fix works:

1. Go to the Workato connection
2. Click **Reconnect**
3. Re-enter the credentials for the Integration User
4. Make sure your browser does not block the Salesforce login popup

This forces Salesforce to issue a fresh OAuth token.

#### **7. If the issue persists: capture the Salesforce Login History**

In Salesforce:

**Setup → Users → Integration User → Login History**

Look at the most recent failed login entry. The error code there (for example, *invalid\_grant*, *IP restricted*, *user hasn’t approved this app*) will tell us exactly what Salesforce is rejecting.

Send us that line and we can pinpoint the fix instantly.

# Salesforce's Mandatory Security Requirements for Connected Apps and ECAs

Salesforce's Mandatory Security Updates for Connected Apps and ECAs do not apply to the SlapFive Advanced App, this section explains why

On March 18, 2026, Salesforce issued new [Mandatory Security Updates for Connected Apps and ECAs](https://partners.salesforce.com/pdx/s/pcnews/mandatory-security-updates-for-connected-apps-and-ecas-MCFBLDLDQ2TVDZFA22GLAMBVEZGY?language=en_US) that **must be implemented** by Partners enrolled in the AppExchange program in their Partner Applications for any CAs/ECAs that are included or used in connection with a Partner Application, provided or created by the Partner, and in use by more than 2+ customer production orgs by **May 11, 2026**.

SlapFive's engineering team has reviewed these requirements and determined that they don't apply to the SlapFive Advanced App, because the app does not include, distribute, or rely on any SlapFive-owned OAuth Connected App or External Client App. All four controls are configuration settings that exist only on OAuth-enabled Connected Apps/ECAs — that is, apps that obtain Salesforce-issued OAuth access and refresh tokens. The Advanced App's architecture doesn't use that pattern anywhere

#### Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE) enabled on Partner-owned CAs/ECAs

The managed package contains no Connected App or External Client App components. We verified this against both our package source and our packaging org.&#x20;

#### Refresh Token Rotation enabled and implemented in application code

No Salesforce OAuth tokens are issued to or handled by the app, so refresh token rotation, idle TTL, and IP allow listing have no surface to apply to. All communication initiated by the app flows outward from your Salesforce org to the SlapFive API over HTTPS, authenticated with a scoped API key managed through Salesforce Named/External Credentials.&#x20;

#### Refresh Token 30-Day Idle Timeout

The SlapFive Connected App contains no OAuth configuration, so PKCE and refresh-token settings do not exist for it. It is used solely for SAML single sign-on (Salesforce acting as identity provider for SlapFive login). SAML flows don't use authorization codes or refresh tokens.

#### Allowlist Ranges for Refresh Tokens

Since there are no Refresh Tokens, Allowlist Ranges don't apply.

#### Workato supports these security requirements

The only component of SlapFive's technology stack impacted by these new Salesforce security requirements is Workato, which SlapFive embeds as our integration and automation server. Workato, which establishes OAuth connections to Salesforce using an Integration User, implemented full support for these requirements as of July 15, 2026.

[Click here to see Workato's OAuth documentation.](https://docs.workato.com/en/connectors/salesforce/custom-oauth.html)

# Synchronize Data between Salesforce and SlapFive

This section covers how you can synchronize data between Salesforce and SlapFive using SlapFive's Embedded Integration.

Here are the common scenarios for synchronizing data between Salesforce and SlapFive:

* Salesforce Contact creates/updates SlapFive Member
* Salesforce Account creates/updates SlapFive Company

These are the steps you need to take to activate data synchronization.

1. [Determine the Salesforce integration user](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive/determine-the-salesforce-integration-user).
2. [Establish your Salesforce Connection](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive/connect-to-salesforce).&#x20;
3. [Select Salesforce objects and fields to synch](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive/select-salesforce-objects-and-fields-to-synch).
4. [Test the Data Synchronization](/integrations/salesforce/synchronize-data-between-salesforce-and-slapfive/test-the-data-synchronization).

# Determine the Salesforce integration user

This section describes the access permissions required for the Salesforce user that you will use to authenticate to Salesforce.

### Authentication Type

The integration uses OAuth 2.0 Authentication.

### How the Connection to Salesforce is Established

1. In SlapFive Settings, you click **Integrations > Salesforce Connection**, then click the **Connect** button.
2. The Integration Server redirects you to the Salesforce login page, where you log in as your **Integration User**, typing the username and password.
3. Salesforce authenticates you and asks for consent.
4. Salesforce issues two tokens:
   1. **Access Token** - short-lived, used to make API calls.
   2. **Refresh Token** - long-lived, used to get new access tokens when the old one expires.
5. The Integration Server stores the Access Token and Refresh Token encrypted in its vault.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
NOTE: No usernames or passwords are ever stored in SlapFive. The Integration Server uses the Refresh Token to silently refresh Access Tokens in the background, without needing the password again.
{% endhint %}

### Integration User Permissions

The Embedded Integration with Salesforce requires you to establish a Salesforce Connection using a Salesforce Integration User with these permissions:

<table><thead><tr><th width="226">Object</th><th width="146">Permssion Type</th><th>Permission</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Opportunity</td><td>Object-level</td><td><p>Read, View All</p><p><br>(View All is needed for any automated workflows that listen for specific field changes on Opportunities, such as the referral automation.)</p></td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Field-level</td><td><ul><li>Edit access to the 4 SlapFive custom fields: Influence Count, SlapFive Influence, SlapFive Influence Score, and SlapFive Program.</li><li>Read access to all fields referenced by the SlapFive integration, including any fields configured for synchronization or monitoring: Opportunity Name, Id, Description, Stage, Is Closed, Is Won, Amount, Created Date, Close Date, Type, Lead Source, Account ID.</li><li>Remove or bypass any field validation rules defined for the Salesforce Opportunity object for this user. <br>Example: "You cannot move this Opportunity to Stage 2 without selecting a Meeting Outcome". </li></ul></td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Record-level</td><td><strong>View All</strong> object permission is recommended. If not granted, the Integration User must have record-level visibility to every Opportunity that may be synchronized with SlapFive.</td></tr><tr><td>Account</td><td>Object-level</td><td>Read, View All</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Field-level</td><td>Read access to all fields referenced by the SlapFive integration, including any fields configured for synchronization or monitoring, such as Industry or Size.</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Record-level</td><td><strong>View All</strong> object permission is recommended. If not granted, the Integration User must have record-level visibility to every Account that may be synchronized with SlapFive.</td></tr><tr><td>Contact</td><td>Object-level</td><td>Read, View All</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Field-level</td><td>Read access to all fields referenced by the SlapFive integration, including any fields configured for synchronization or monitoring, such as Title or LinkedIn Profile.</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Record-level</td><td><strong>View All</strong> object permission is recommended. If not granted, the Integration User must have record-level visibility to every Contact that may be synchronized with SlapFive.</td></tr><tr><td><p>SlapFive Customer Influence</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Customer Influence Activity</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Customer Activity</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Board</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Company</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Contact</p><p></p><p>SlapFive Story</p></td><td>Object-level</td><td>Read, Create, Edit, Delete</td></tr><tr><td>SlapFive Customer Influence</td><td>3 Record Types</td><td>Read and Edit</td></tr><tr><td>SlapFive Customer Influence Activity</td><td>3 Record Types</td><td>Read and Edit</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Field-level</td><td>Read and Edit access to all fields</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>Record-level</td><td>Access to all records.</td></tr></tbody></table>

The Integration User needs these system permissions to enable the real-time listening for Opportunity, Account and Contact record changes to sync to SlapFive, as this requires CDC registration:

* [ ] API Enabled
* [ ] View Setup and Configuration
* [ ] Customize Application
* [ ] Manage Flow
* [ ] Flow User
* [ ] Salesforce API Integration permission set license

In addition, the Integration User needs access to the setup objects used by the SlapFive Salesforce App:

* [ ] Named Credential with Name = SlapFive\_API
* [ ] SlapFive Settings object
* [ ] SlapFive Custom Metadata Types
* [ ] Assigned the SlapFive API Permission Set

### Restrict Integration User to IP addresses or ranges

If your company requires your Salesforce Integration User to be restricted to specific IP addresses or ranges, your Salesforce Admin needs to add these IP Addresses to the **Login IP Ranges** for the Integration User:

* [ ] 52.5.142.59
* [ ] 34.226.132.221
* [ ] 52.54.43.157
