Understanding Membership Profiles

Membership profiles are the foundation of the SlapFive platform. Every advocate, customer, or member in your program is represented through a profile.

Profiles, Data & Filtering in SlapFive

Member profiles are the foundation of how SlapFive identifies, organizes, activates, and measures customer advocates.

The stronger and more structured your profile data is, the easier it becomes to find the right customer for the right opportunity—whether that is a sales reference, speaking opportunity, content request, campaign, review, or other advocacy activity.

What Profiles Power

Search & Filtering

Quickly identify customers and advocates based on the criteria that matter to your program.

Teams can search and filter across customer, contact, program, and advocacy attributes to narrow a large advocate pool into a relevant group.

For example:

  • Customers using a specific product

  • Advocates in a particular industry or geography

  • Customers associated with a specific account segment

  • Advocates who have agreed to participate in references

  • Customers who are available for speaking opportunities

  • Advocates who have completed specific activities

Advocate Segmentation

Profiles allow Customer Marketing and Advocacy teams to build meaningful advocate segments rather than treating every advocate the same.

Segments might include:

  • Executive advocates

  • Highly engaged advocates

  • Reference-ready customers

  • Customers willing to speak publicly

  • Customers available for analyst conversations

  • Customers interested in reviews

  • Customers by product or use case

  • Strategic or enterprise accounts

  • Customers within a specific region

These segments can then be used for targeted campaigns, outreach, requests, and reporting.

Reference Request Matching

Profile data is especially important for reference programs. When Sales submits a reference request, SlapFive can use customer and advocate attributes to help identify customers that align with the request.

Matching criteria may include:

  • Industry

  • Company size or segment

  • Geography

  • Product

  • Use case

  • Role or persona

  • Customer lifecycle stage

  • Reference willingness

  • Previous advocacy participation

  • Other organization-specific matching criteria

The more complete the underlying data is, the more relevant the potential matches become.

Organizations using automated or AI-assisted reference matching should pay particular attention to profile quality because the matching process can only use the information available within the customer and advocate data model.

Campaign Targeting

Profile fields can also determine who should receive a SlapFive campaign.

Instead of sending every campaign to the entire advocate community, teams can create highly targeted audiences.

For example:

Review Campaign

Target customers who:

Product = Product X AND Advocacy Interest = Reviews AND Customer Status = Active

Speaking Opportunity

Target advocates who:

Industry = Financial Services AND Role = Executive AND Speaking Interest = Yes AND Region = North America

This allows teams to make advocacy asks more relevant and reduces unnecessary outreach to customers who are unlikely to be a fit.

Reporting & Analytics

Structured profile data also makes advocacy reporting significantly more valuable.

Organizations can analyze participation and advocacy activity by dimensions such as:

  • Industry

  • Geography

  • Product

  • Customer segment

  • Account tier

  • Persona

  • Advocacy type

  • Program

  • Customer lifecycle stage

This helps teams answer questions such as:

  • Which customer segments are most engaged?

  • Where do we have gaps in reference coverage?

  • Which products have the strongest advocate representation?

  • Which regions need additional advocate sourcing?

  • Are we relying too heavily on a small group of customers?

  • Which types of customers participate most frequently?
